The NHS clapping has no Social distancing

this clapping fad around hospitals has got out of hand. All the videos are showing that all the social distancing rules are being broken including health staff, police and the public. They are now mass gatherings. Also on Westminster bridge. It has got to stop!

I’ve thought this too after seeing a video of people at my nearest hospital. Stay home and protect the NHS except for 8pm Thursdays when you can all congregate to thank them. Utter madness

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 17/04/2020 11:24

I agree. I've also thought this about lots of the NHS social media songs, dances etc.

edwinbear · 17/04/2020 11:25

Completely agree. The whole thing has got out of hand.

vanillandhoney · 17/04/2020 11:26

Yep, it's shocking. No idea why it's seen to be a good thing.

Putyourdamnshoeson · 17/04/2020 11:29

Yep, it's all batshit. I've never clapped and feel vindicated. I said it would turn into a mad, obligatory, virtue signalling, cult event and it has

Glittercandle · 17/04/2020 11:30

I agree with you.

The time to catch corona is 8pm Thursday!

tigger1001 · 17/04/2020 11:33

Nhs staff can't maintain social distancing anyway while at work so No issue with them standing with colleagues who they will have been working with anyway clapping. But agree re gatherings.

We do clap as it's something my youngest wants to do. But we stand on our doorstep, which is more than 2 meters away from
Our neighbours. Gathering at Westminster bridge etc is just crazy

rubydoobydoo · 17/04/2020 11:34

We were on the way back from our daily walk (forgot it was Thursday as all the days have blended into one Blush ) and had to walk in the middle of the road to get back to our houses as everyone had come up their gardens onto the pavement to clap!

iolaus · 17/04/2020 11:36

Have to say I saw a video of the police doing it in Edinburgh - and they had spaced out well etc and were adhering to social distancing

Drpeppered · 17/04/2020 11:41

You do realise nhs staff aren’t social distancing within hospitals right? It would be impossible to.

Ponoka7 · 17/04/2020 11:41

A DJ type set got set up in my road last night. We had a child singing from 7.45 until the clap, then a few 'superstar/hero' songs. Then karaoke. With the same mike used and social distancing went out of the window.

Letseatgrandma · 17/04/2020 11:45

Downright irresponsible

The NHS clapping has no Social distancing
YangShanPo · 17/04/2020 11:49

If people stood on the doorstep and clapped then it would be fine and I don't even mind the odd musician or spiderman, but some people are really going too far.

x2boys · 17/04/2020 11:49

Well.obviously gathering n public places to clap.is ridiculous and irresponsible ,but still r people want to do it again n their own gardens I don't see a,problem with that?

MintyMabel · 17/04/2020 11:55

It's bloody ridiculous. People just patting themselves on their back for "supporting the NHS" When actually they aren't doing anything of the sort. All they are doing is following their neighbours, sheeplike to join in with a stupid fad. "Supporting" one group of people who tend to spend their time telling us how wonderful they are, ignoring the thousands of other people putting themselves at risk with no protection on minimum wage. Bitching about supermarket staff and bin collections but clapping the nurses.

I don't join in and I don't intend to.

z0fl0ra · 17/04/2020 11:59

I saw a video on the saws where they were filming a street clapping but the doors on the terraced houses were definitely not 2m apart some literally next to each other! It’s a lovely thought but going too far

GinDrinker00 · 17/04/2020 12:00

YANBU. Shocking that the police was threatening to check people’s shopping just a few weeks ago yet they’ll happily turn up and watch 100s of people clap and mingle with NHS staff outside hospitals! There’s no point in lockdown, it’s just going to go on and on and on till this stops. They’ll all be wondering why they’re sick in a few weeks. Angry

Jaxhog · 17/04/2020 12:02

It is flagrant virtue signalling. It benefits NHS staff not one iota. Far better to stay home and away from other people, so they don't have more patients.

GinDrinker00 · 17/04/2020 12:02
