To expect my Royal Mail parcels to be delivered?

Three, this last week - to family - have just not arrived.

Posted on the 31st of March.

One delivered - but recipients 'not in' so have requested a redelivery. RM rang today - they don't really know where the parcel is.

The other was 3 packets of seeds - just to keep my elderly parents busy at home in their garden; posted alongside another parcel which has arrived.

The third a treat for a friend - nothing arrived.
I know they will be busy, I'm a key worker too - just feeling a bit fed up that I have tried to help others - and it hasn't happened.

Am I being unreasonable in expecting my parcels to be delivered?

Also must say our Royal Mail postman is lovely and always waves and chats ( pre lockdown ) now it’s just a wave through the window
The kids have coloured thank you sheet which we have stuck around the glass door panels .

A royal mail van has probably been done over and the bags and empty crates dumped on my street (many). The police are not even interested. Told me it's a royal mail issue.

I posted birthday presents to my NHS 'hero' DD three weeks ago. They never arrived. Royal mail put a card through her door eventually but when she managed to get to the sorting office they couldn't find her parcel...said a manager would phone her yet no one has. That has really upset me that she's a couple of hundred miles from family, nursing Corona patients in her 20s and risking her own life and she got fuck all for her birthday. No one else's present arrived either.Sad

I'm still waiting for 2 parcels sent out on the 23rd March. Had letters since but the 2 parcels haven't turned up

DH called the local office today as he has 3 deliveries that should have arrived last week, they said they’d had to relocate staff to jobs they aren’t used to and as a result lots of stuff is going missing and in his words ‘it’s chaos’. I do feel for them. DH was told his parcels were probably lost.
I have a couple of birthday presents I’ve sent through the post so I do hope they arrive at some point but under the circumstances I really don’t blame anyone!

Our local postie posted this on our local Facebook page.

They're doing their best but have a huuuge backlog.

(I've also posted this on the other post complaining about Royal Mail).

The original posters seeds will be delivered eventually. Different sized parcels go through different processes to get through mail centres. Due to the lack of storage space, I imagine (but dont know for definite as I work delivering not in a mail centre) that they are having to prioritise larger items which might be why the seeds haven't turned up yet but the other parcel for the same address did.

The pictures and rainbows that have been put up in windows and on gates do make a difference to us and are appreciated, thankyou Loadsa

It is worse than Christmas ar the moment. Constant queues that need managing within our shop with 2x the people waiting outside as are in the queue and this is all with over half my team self isolating or I'll . Everything is slow at the moment, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

LoadsaBlusher · 15/04/2020 22:46

That’s nice to know mary

I appreciate all the hard work that is going on behind the scenes just now at the Royal Mail

Leighwalk · 16/04/2020 16:13

Yeh - one more has arrived - the 'lost' re-delivery! Thank you Mr Postman...or Mrs Postman.

Now for the seeds...

Did the seeds arrive?

heartsonacake · 28/04/2020 21:04

YABU. Those items are not essential despite your claims and you shouldn’t have posted them.

bookish83 · 28/04/2020 21:08

@marydtf

Thank you to you and the other Postal Service staff. I thank our Postman often (he is so friendly and helpful) and worry for how exposed you all are.

I admit I have sent cards for birthdays and ordered some things online, however nothing like I would normally eg clothes.

Xx

chockaholic72 · 28/04/2020 21:20

They are really, really busy. We’ve had a message to say that they temporarily won’t be doing Saturday deliveries as they have a huge backlog. Things will get there eventually.

Ariela · 28/04/2020 22:04

Honestly I think RM are doing a sterling job. Our postie is certainly doing about 3 rounds, and I know for a fact many worked on Sunday to help clear the backlog. It is, apparently busier than Christmas, more parcels than ever, no extra seasonal temp staff and 1/3 the workforce off.
