Restless legs- help!

3am I woke with the most weirdest feeling in my legs. 2 hours of kicking my legs about I finally got up at 5am. I have never suffered with this before, I could have cut off my legs last night.

I’ve looked at NHS online, and it said it could be lack of iron- so I’ve taken some iron tablets.

It also said that lithium and antihistamines could cause it- both of which I take, and yesterday was the second day of a new antihistamine. Also that Gabapentin and codeine could help- both of which I already take.

So I’ve taken an iron tablet and I have not taken an antihistamine today. But what what else can I do if it happens again tonight?

If you do suffer with this, OMG I really feel for you, I never appreciated how unsettling and horrible it was.

@LadyEloise no I wouldn’t say mine feels like a pumping sensation. It’s more like a internal tingling.

Banana a day helped me. It was gone after a week or so fully

I get this a lot, I take a magnesium supplement every day and sometimes use a magnesium spray. It has made it virtually go away for me

I rub Tiger Balm on the affected bit of my leg/s when I get it (I only get it when I haven't exercised as much as usual) and that works quickly. Something like Deep Heat would quite likely work, as well. It takes that weird sensation away.

@MissBattleaxe
You are right about soap. It has to be white Castille soap and you put it under the sheet you lie on. It certainly works for me and I suffered for ages with restless legs and could barely function through sleep deprivation. No one knows why this works but it does. Don't scoff......

It's awful and is worsened by a necessary Rx I take so I take another Rx for RLS every night and limit my caffeine
