I told my family I would have to do the washing again

...because I left it out too long and it had been darked on and spiders might have rubbed their willies on it.

And they laughed at me and said I was weird.

Should I LTB?

I have never heard the expression darked on! I have had to rewash due to bird poo on sheets but no other problems. Please explain. Guess I really must be old lol😂

undercoveraessedai · 13/04/2020 01:29

I have just brought my washing in at 1am... And then found this thread and laughed! I too have no problems with spider willies but object strongly to whole ones hiding in my washing.

Though am slightly baffled as to why they would do such a thing, it feels like a lot of effort?

Darked on is a glorious expression and I'm probably missing a joke but I'm stealing it anyway Grin

SlowHorse · 13/04/2020 01:38

Only solution is to burn whole wash. Take the opportunity to have an all day bonfire / barbecue at same time. [handhold].

ZigZaggyZoo · 13/04/2020 01:52

I'd be most worried about the owl flaps. Definitely needs rewashing

@SlowHorse has made the only sensible comment on this thread.

Time40 · 13/04/2020 02:15

I will get pregnant by ghost willies if I use a darked on towel

What... by spider willies? So you will have... spiders? Or horrible human-spider hybrids, like that film, The Fly, but with spiders? Really? I didn't know that was possible.

Aaaggggh! Don't leave the washing out at night!

Thepigeonsarecoming · 13/04/2020 02:23

Omg, burn anything infected, including the garden and house if needed!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 13/04/2020 03:21

We have to close the curtains, otherwise the dark looks in at us.

Bobleywobley · 13/04/2020 03:46

Wtf?

Jannie62 · 13/04/2020 03:51

On occasion during good weather, when faced with laundry pile-up reaching crisis proportions, I have been known to actually hang washing out as the sun sets. I find it rather satisfying that I can bring it in next morning as soon as the dew has dried, usually by 10-11a.m. Thereby freeing up the clothesline for the next load to go out. Makes me feel "ahead of the game" to bring in dry washing so early - am I the only person in the world that thinks this way?

StarlightLady · 13/04/2020 04:13

Was the moon out? If the moon shines things can’t get darked. And I should know, look at my user name Grin!

lookingformybrain · 13/04/2020 04:24

I'm so glad DP brought in the dry clothes last night. They definitely would have been darked on and I would have washed them again, without hesitating.

Dita73 · 13/04/2020 04:29

Never heard of this but I’m guessing that “darked on” means left out overnight? Even if it is,so what? What is supposed to happen to it if this happens?! As for “cloud wee”....🙄

PhilCornwall1 · 13/04/2020 06:24

I've just been outside and the line is full of washing, bedding and a few pairs of my wife's pants.

She can't wear those now that spider willies could have been on them!! Shock they should at least go on a 90 degree wash after that!!

hesgotit · 13/04/2020 06:40

Don't be ridiculous..... burn them!

PhilCornwall1 · 13/04/2020 06:41

Good point, I'm on it!!

Goatinthegarden · 13/04/2020 07:35

I washed DH’s car cleaning cloths yesterday and forgot to take them out the machine until after 6pm. I suggested we hang them out over night but he was horrified that precious cloths might get darked on.

When I pointed out that his precious (and very clean) car gets darked on every night and spiders congregate to rub their willies freely all over the bonnet, he marched out and torched the car. Then he hung the cloths up safely inside.

Should I LTB or is he a keeper....?

GaspodeWonderCat · 13/04/2020 07:48

Goat - he is a keeper Smile

Oakmaiden · 13/04/2020 07:48

Goat - well, he clearly understands. I'd let him stay.

I left a pair of DH jeans on washing line overnight last year. When I took them out of laundry basket to iron, I noticed a bump in the pocket. I thought “FFS DH left a snotty tissue in the pocket...” I put my fingers into the pocket to pull out the offending article and touched something silky and soft. I gingerly plucked it out and it was...a big hairy brown moth. Aaaaaaaaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. I dropped it and it immediately starting flying around the room. I screamed my head off. Moths. Bleurrrrrrgh! Darkening is a very real thing.

WinniePig · 13/04/2020 07:55

I think that should read *getting darked on is a very real thing

Jollypolly999 · 13/04/2020 07:59

Ohhh -LTB? NO HE SHOULD LEAVE YOU!! 😆 Too much effort to rewash unless it is cloud piss. Spider Willie's I can deal with 😆😆😆

Hagbeth · 13/04/2020 08:01

What does “darked” even mean?

Jollypolly999 · 13/04/2020 08:01

I'll just add, my old neighbours would ALWAYS leave their clothes on the line overnight in the spring and summer. Dew freshener it up apparently...

Just to freak you out a little more 🤭 on their little baby's clothing and intimates too!

Branleuse · 13/04/2020 08:06

Surely you wash them every day anyway, otherwise you are disgusting. If not twice a day
