To think we are going to be contacted by aliens soon?

The whole world is in lockdown pretty much and wouldn't it be wild if the reason for this is we are going to be contacted by aliens soon? Like there's really no point in ending lockdown and there seems to be some crazy things happening astronomically at the moment... When aliens are going to show up soon. What are your thoughts British mums on the interwebs? Capitalism will be ending soon because there's no point anymore guys, get ready for AI life. Gin

Maybe they need slave labour.

drunkyhumptydumpty · 11/04/2020 19:20

For aliens to contact us they would have to be far far superior in intellect and millennia ahead of us in terms of technology and resources.

Just look at some of the poster on here as a sample of the human race.

No advances species is stupid enough to get involved with this shit show.

drunkyhumptydumpty · 11/04/2020 19:22

I don't think they'd even want the slave labour.

Nobody wants enslaved masses that moan about their needs and many many many adjustment requirements.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 11/04/2020 20:01

A proper loopy Mumsnet question. Why arent you spying on your neighbours like other loons?

  • Hahah Missus! What a tattyfilarious day for shoving a cucumber through your neighbour's letterbox and shouting, Look Out Missus, the Aliens Have Landed!

Nope, but you win thread title of the day.

aWeaponCalledtheWord · 11/04/2020 20:14

i want to believe...

(but only if they’re not into the whole death-ray-obliterate-humanity thing. a knitting circle would be nice. or a book group)

ScrambledSmegs · 11/04/2020 20:16

It's possible that we aren't the only intelligent life in the universe BUT to find solar systems with planets capable of supporting life as we know it on earth is extremely hard. I don't think they've found one yet.

Added to that - gravity isn't the same from one planet to the next. Extra-terrestrials might find their bodies being crushed by the weight of our atmosphere and/or gravity. They might not even be land-living. This isn't Star Trek where all planets are roughly the same give or take some unusual vegetation.

I love all those 'secrets of the universe' type shows on BBC4 I may have watched one too many Blush

If Midsomer was a real place, this is the sort of thread that would appear on MidsomerNet. Grin

Thing is, it doesn't have to be life as we know it on earth. The parameters are far too narrow if we use that specific. Our life does not necessarily mean ALL life.

Jellykat · 11/04/2020 23:12

Oh yes please, and can they come to my house in the form of Noel Fielding (CV free of course) pleeease?

CruCru · 11/04/2020 23:56

I believe that there is life on other planets. However, I think those planets are too far away to make contact possible. Space travel uses up a lot of natural resources and it is unlikely that a planet that supports life will be big enough to provide sufficient resources to allow the journey.

Even if it did, a journey to our planet might take several lifetimes. The aliens will have better things to do.

Waterandlemonjuice · 12/04/2020 00:02

Thanks for this thread 😂😂😂 at some of the posts

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 12/04/2020 00:13

I'd be so disappointed if they picked this time to visit. All the amazing points in history and they pick one where idiots don't understand what lockdown means and way too many people are filming themselves singing songs . On the plus side, they could visit all the best museums without waiting in queues ... hmm, maybe they have picked the right time.

Jente · 12/04/2020 01:52

Im waiting for Dom Raab and Priti P to rip their faces off at the daily briefing revealing their xenomorphic form.

Reginabambina · 12/04/2020 02:11

Unless they’ve got a cure for Coronavirus I doubt anyone would really care at this point. ‘Oh look, it’ s some aliens .... StaY tHe fUCk aT HoMe!!!!!!’

Supermoons are not "crazy things", astronomically speaking.

When aliens land a keen, but over zealous copper will ask "Now, was this journey REALLY, essential, any Easter eggs in that vehicle?"

SirChing · 12/04/2020 03:17

Will there be probes? Because my sex life is currently non existent due to corona distancing.

Lynda07 · 12/04/2020 03:26

When I was a child my back garden had allotments behind it and I could see them from my bedroom window. I used to think I would wake up one morning and see that Martians had landed on the allotments. They never did and I was glad - but it could happen.

Anyone who has seen or is able to access the television series of 'Quatermass and the Pit', I think it came out at the end of 1960, please share :-). I was terrified after the first episode and every week after that would go up to bed before it started at 8pm, I must have been about ten. However I could hear the theme music from my bedroom. It was a nightmare! However it has been on television in recent years and I've enjoyed watching it though definitely not suitable for children.

Bloody classic.

Sadly missed Ken, would have loved to hear him on current situatiom😀

coldwarenigma · 13/04/2020 09:23

OP, did this go as you expected? Grin

elmouno · 28/08/2020 19:08

There is no shame in discussing the aliens, don't let them fool us. Besides there was some stuff released by the US military about unidentified flying objects that could not be driven by humans 👾 I am bumping this thread because it's for open minds 🛸

When I say no point in ending lockdown, I mean the powers that be will not end it but we don't need to be locked down!
