To wish people would stop complaining about or flouting the lockdown?

Everytime a journo asks how long the lockdown will continue I want to scream.

People need to STFU and do what they're told. That's the priority right now. WHO and all the govts aren't psychics, no one can be certain how long this will continue. If it will get better, or come back or what.

So we need to wait.

I mean FFS. Imagine we had no food or water or power or television or internet or a telephone to keep in touch.

Imagine it was a physical war with people bombing us every day.

People are so fucking spoiled. Yes it sucks. Yes jobs are being affected. Yes people are losing money and/or losing their businesses.

And it sucks. DH has his own side business so we aren't unaffected and there's already talk of redundancies in his main mon-fri job

But we, like everyone else, just have to fucking deal with it for now.

Not standing idly by while you try to turn the country into a dictatorship, thank you. Stfu and stop asking questions?? Yeah whatevs.

Goldenbear · 11/04/2020 12:15

It is not spoilt to miss a basic human right - Freedom to Move, even if it is necessary! So because we are not being bombed we are 'spoilt'? Besides even if we don't have it bad compared to third world countries, do you not think there is an economic impact on these countries that is going to be a lot worse and we shouldn't give any thought to that?

PositiveVibez · 11/04/2020 12:20

Yabu because your attitude stinks.

The whole tone of your OP sounds like you think you're the only one adhering to "the rules", when in fact the majority of people are.

People are allowed to wonder when this will be over. Or do you want thoughts policed too?

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 11/04/2020 12:24

Why don't you get off social media then?

Goldenbear · 11/04/2020 12:30

I hate all the swearing in your opening post OP.

Bagadverts · 11/04/2020 12:31

There are posts here from MNetters on the edge due to health issues especially MN problem exacerbated by lockdown and low income.

No internet means many people won’t be here but the threads from teachers and social workers should help us remember the privilege this community and others online have.

These are not reasons to flout rules in place but journalists should be asking about strategies and plans about lockdown easing.

Bagadverts · 11/04/2020 12:31

MH not MN issues

MissingLinker · 11/04/2020 12:32

*I mean FFS. Imagine we had no food or water or power or television or internet or a telephone to keep in touch.

Imagine it was a physical war with people bombing us every day.*

Then we'd all be complaining about that instead. I mean, there'd probably be some fuckwits tell us that we were lucky that we were ONLY being bombed and that we were all spoiled to want assurance that we weren't going to die during the night.

We have to accept the lockdown, sure. No one has to be happy about it.

nuttymomma · 11/04/2020 12:38

some really selfish and whiny people on here.

Reminds me of a couple I know who decided to have a garden party for their street, complete with loud music and flashing lights, and wine being passed around all until the early hours and despite multiple visits and warnings from the police. They posted on Facebook about how unfair it all was.

OP posts:
PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 11/04/2020 12:42

Get off FB then. No one's doing that where I am.

GoldenOmber · 11/04/2020 12:44

And by 'selfish and whiny people' you include 'journalists doing their job'?

Bringringbring12 · 11/04/2020 12:45

I like this thread
Even though OP has followed a mumsnet tens of bitching about what others are doing during this difficult time... we have roundly told her... you’re being unreasonable. Hopefully will start to see more of this on other daft OPs

Bringringbring12 · 11/04/2020 12:45

Are you not curious?

I'm sure as hell curious about how they plan to sort this out. I'm not on a rush. But I want to know the plan.

Bringringbring12 · 11/04/2020 12:58

@hobnobsaremyfave

“Lesser spotted”

They’re everywhere!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/04/2020 13:03

Oh I can spot them everywhere Grin
Common or garden might have been a better turn of phrase as this is a particularly poor goady fucker 😂😂

MamaBearLockdown · 11/04/2020 13:08

People who don't respect current rules should be heavily fined.
If there's no consequence, no one will bother following the rules.

As it IS shit for everybody, people are allowed to moan that it is shit. It is also a lot more shit for people stuck in to grotty high rise tower whilst others are enjoying their outdoor swimming pool, or even their outdoor paddling pool in the sun.

And let's not even mention people who would love to stay home but HAVE to go to work and put themselves at risk. They are also allowed to moan!

ChicChicChicChiclana · 11/04/2020 13:08

If we had a like button (ha ha!) I would apply it with a big thumbs up to ALifeDesign's post at 11.07am.

Couldn't agree more.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/04/2020 13:16

YABU.

I'm not "flouting" the lockdown, I understand that it's necessary and I am following the rules. But I don't have to pretend that I'm not hating it. I'm at risk of losing my job, I live with DS in a flat with no outdoor space and I cannot fucking wait until it's over.

slipperywhensparticus · 11/04/2020 13:21

Selfish and whiny? Put down the mirror I'm sure it's not all that bad on planet goady fucker

JudyCoolibar · 11/04/2020 13:27

To be fair, by all accounts the government actually anticipated a higher level of people ignoring the rules leading basically to continued incidence of the virus - because it's inevitable till we get a vaccine - which would be manageable and would mean more people in the community with immunity. So your virtue signalling could actually be a bit counter-productive.

MamaBearLockdown · 11/04/2020 13:29

So your virtue signalling could actually be a bit counter-productive.

I do love people who present their random opinion as a scientific fact Grin
