to only have one small toybox in the living room?

I have a small wooden chest of toys in my living room. If the lid doesn't close due to too many toys, they get hoiked upstairs.

The DC have a room each and the bulk of their toys there. Their books are on low shelves of my bookcases, no problem there.

Am I mean to only let them have a small box downstairs? Iregularly rotate the toys [pleads]

withdrawing room sounds like a room for junkies to go cold turkey.

We have NO toys downstairs! Any found are taken up to the kids rooms quite quickly. The kids play in their rooms. I also have lots of friends who have living rooms full of toys. I'm sure they all think I'm odd but I like having it this way.

We are the exact opposite - DS (nearly 4) has a tiny bedroom with NO toys in it at all except teddies and books for bedtime. The toys live downstairs in his playroom, which is what "should" be the dining room - when we have more than 8 people to dinner (not often!) we move the furniture and set the tables up in there after DS has done to bed. The living room is our adult area - DS mainly goes in there to watch TV (none in his bedroom or playroom.
