Unreasonable and petty things that put you off a person

NC, penis beaker, wailing michaelangelo etc

Just wondered if anyone else can relate to this - I seem to be easily put off people due to very petty things in the scheme of things.

For example, last month I had to pick up a male colleague on the way to a work meeting. I had to go in his house to help carry some things, which meant going through his garden. He had washing on the line, including his pants. I don't know why but this made me lose respect for him and feel a bit embarrassed for seeing a colleague's pants (not sure if I was embarrassed for me or him). He didn't seem to notice though. He's in his late 50s and I really didn't want to see his pants under any circumstances!

Another was a guy I was seeing years ago. On one occasion he tried for a kiss and I wasn't expecting it, and seeing his lips pierced ready for a kiss when I was completely off guard just disgusted me. It put me off and I didn't see him again Confused

Once something like this has happened my view of them is tainted. Is this a known thing or am I just an unreasonable cow?

Both instances you describe OP would've had me in stitches rather than get all offended.
But... to answer your question; the unreasonable or petty things that put me off someone are too many to number but number one would be adults dressing like toddlers.
The number of men I saw on the supermarket run today dressed in baggy shorts, baggy tee shirts and caps the wrong way round on their thinning heads was....interesting.

3luckystars · 08/04/2020 22:00

It's called the ick and there was a huge thread about it on here recently.
I get it and have gotten it with friends also. There's no going back once it happens.

cardibach · 08/04/2020 22:01

I’m now a bit put off pallasathena for describing perfectly normal shorts and T-shirt’s as toddlers’ clothes. Why do s9 e people th8nk adults can’t wear comfortable things?

FlapAttack23 · 08/04/2020 22:02

Anything that’s mega self indulgent at the cost of adding to another s workload or mental load like thinking loudly out loud “oh what shall I wear... what should I eat.... oh maybe this.. no ... hmmm.. “ STFU

Saying things like choccie, sweeties, yummy

Whistling

cardibach · 08/04/2020 22:02

Excuse typos which are now probably unreasonably putting people off me.

Spied · 08/04/2020 22:04

Chiffon scarves

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 08/04/2020 22:11

Definitely whistling! Can’t cope with it.

People who call across the street to people they know. Or call from their car to someone on the pavement/vice versa. This is usually men but I have seen women do it. Urgh.

alittlequinnie · 08/04/2020 22:11

Men carrying umbrellas - I don't know why but I can't think of anything more offputting than a man with an umbrella. Real men let their hair get wet in the rain LOL... you did say it should be unreasonable!

Luc1nda · 08/04/2020 22:14

People talking loudly, confidently and in a posh accent. Blush

TheReluctantCountess · 08/04/2020 22:14

Adults calling their parents ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’. Ick.

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 08/04/2020 22:15

Slip on shoes
No socks but slip on shoes
Bitten nails
Massive belt buckles
Rolled up suit sleeves
Euuuw

GoodnessSake · 08/04/2020 22:15

People who have an opinion about EVERYTHING without exception, some men people I know have honestly never stopped to draw breath or ask a question or just listen.

Spermysextowel · 08/04/2020 22:17

Gonna; wanna. Or worse gona.

Luc1nda · 08/04/2020 22:18

When people shuffle and don’t Pick Their Feet Up.

Actually that’s not irrational.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 08/04/2020 22:18

Men who dye their hair

I felt embarrassed for Aron Bryan when he started dying it

And James Blunt’s hair at Bake-off looked dyed too

I vind hair dye in men a real turn off

Probably unfair of me!

Mylittlepony374 · 08/04/2020 22:18

Saying 'aks' instead of ask.
I will in all likelihood never speak to the person again once I hear this.

JKScot4 · 08/04/2020 22:18

Keys clipped to a belt loop.
Saying they’re fat when they’re not.
Calling their DP/DW mummy/daddy.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 08/04/2020 22:19

Rob Brydan (who the fuck is Aron?! Grin)

EmmaBridgewater20 · 08/04/2020 22:20

I was once put off a very reasonable bloke because he laced his trainers really tight like a a 1970’s PE teacher - urghhhh.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/04/2020 22:20

I don’t like women that always take the women’s side in an argument against men, if a woman does anything wrong then it’s because her feelings are hurt/she isn’t being heard/her needs aren’t being met, but if a man does wrong then he is just a bastard, double standards and my mother is one of these women and they just piss me off and I’m a woman!

I have loads more I’m sure but this is the first one I thought of because it happened today.

Stroller15 · 08/04/2020 22:20

People who drink from, say a coke bottle, with their whole mouth all the way around the rim. Also people who put lol after non-lolling sentencing or even worse say 'lol' or 'meh' in real life.

Spermysextowel · 08/04/2020 22:21

WFH at the same time as my son. He has a fancy headset so struts around the house talking to his colleagues, whilst I’m tethered to one plugged into my laptop or cradling the mobile between my neck & chins.

TheReluctantCountess · 08/04/2020 22:22

Men with really thick hair who don’t keep it neat. I don’t mean growing it long, but just not getting it cut regularly enough, therefore ending up looking homeless.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/04/2020 22:22

Women that bang on about the men that fancy them.
Men that are over 21 and wear skinny jeans and have big bushy beards and tattooed sleeves, you can’t look like this in your late 30s coz it’s too try hard.
People that use every new fashionable word/saying, ie ‘woke’ ‘on point’ and grown men that take selfies and post them to their socialsHmm it’s such a woman thing to do and I don’t even think grown men should have FB or Instagram unless it’s too post manly stuff!

OldLace · 08/04/2020 22:27

attention seeking
'ooh, I'm fat (when not, agreed), ooh, what shall I eat / wear / drink (agreed, who cares?), oooh, me me me
also - assuming that any misfortune in a persons life is due to some sort of moral defect - ie classifying someone as the 'undeserving poor' (looking at you, Boris) without realising that poverty, like poor health, like many other things, can simply be bad luck. So categorising people negatively with no attempt to understand why there are in that position - often this comes from a person with a privileged and narrow life view (looking at you, most of the Tory party)
dirty fingernails / hair / clothes
but then, I'm a tolerant type Grin
