The UK governments keep shooting themselves in the foot?

I mean really, I know how serious this is, I work front line, so why are the government seemingly making a mockery of it all? First, the Cabinet and senior medical advisors all clearly ignored their own social distancing guidance and spread Covid around each other. Then they announce lockdown and insist (which it is) its the best thing to do to stop the disease, then the Scottish Medical Advisor is seen ignoring her own advice going out on non essential overnight trips. Then Boris is so ill with Covid-19 that he is admitted to hospital, but its OK, he's not ill enough to stop running the country. Ffs man, if you want people to take it seriously, you need to show them it is serious, not something you can run a country through. And finally, Boris is in good spirits running the country (despite being hospitalised from Covid-19) but hasn't actually spoken to his 2nd in command for over 48 hours!!

FFS, AIBU to think that they are sending out conflicting messages? So many people don't believe how serious it is, and that it's a conspiracy to take away our rights, and then they do shit like this?

I don't know where the "millions" of PPE items are going but community care don't seem to be seeing any of it. I'm wondering if they're counting each individual paper towel or shoe cover as an item.

who is reporting raab is in hospital? He was on TV a few hours ago

fetchmemyparasol · 06/04/2020 20:22

ITV News

Crunchymum · 06/04/2020 20:23

I apologise @Hasa

I misread the headline Shock

astropoodle · 06/04/2020 20:23

That's concerning about the PM being in ITU, the last thing the country needs now is another new PM.

fetchmemyparasol · 06/04/2020 20:23

Boris is in intensive care, nothing about Raab

Zilla1 · 06/04/2020 20:27

Seaelf, I suspect the same (100 items of PPE in the box of gloves next to me which previously would just be called one box) and smell the same reek of spin as when I heard the government were 'raising the standards of PPE to (near to) the world's best' instead of just making sure everyone who needs it has enough, adequate, unexpired PPE available where they need it.

Crunchymum · 06/04/2020 20:27

I've apologised several times about my misinformed post (about Raab)

I misread the news headlines.

sky news 'close to a ventilator', presume NIV rather than physical proximity.

Thank goodness someone seems to have got the point of my post @Iwantacookie!

@Clavinova exactly Sturgeon backed her but also, the Chief Medical Officer deemed that appropriate for herself, that snacks of someone not taking it seriously.

Seems pretty serious now that the PM is in ICU. Hope he pulls thorough.
