Please Smile

I’m 7+5 with my first after an early loss at 5 weeks last year (which I was completely fine and pragmatic about after a day, these things happen) but seem to be not really suffering in the way I’d expected, and against my usual sense it makes me worry something’s wrong.

Had a bit of a woozy/hungover feeling and some tiredness in the afternoons on and off, boobs have been a bit sore but also on and off, mostly I feel fine. No vomiting, no feeling awful. The lockdown means my days are much easier so that might be helping, perhaps I’d feel worse if I was still commuting into London daily?!

My DM said she never had any sickness in pregnancy and felt generally fine too, so maybe it’s genetic, but I think most of us think pregnant = sick so it’s hard not to read into it. My BF has thrown up constantly throughout all her pregnancies so that’s the closest example I have.

I’ve been searching old posts to see others experiences as I know we’re all different, but still feeling a bit on edge! I’d love to hear from others who also felt fine but everything was ok.

Thanks all, it is really helpful to hear others experiences. Boob soreness seems to have gone today, but was here yesterday. Maybe it’ll come back? It’s definitely fluctuating. The wooziness only seems to come in the afternoon, when it does come, but somehow that means every morning I’m back to ‘look nothing’s happening!’

Really there’s literally nothing I can do, what will he will be. I am worried about a MMC, especially as it looks like I’ll be at the scan alone, but again, nothing I can do except ride it out and hope for the best! It’s a weird anxious time which doesn’t help. But good to know I’m not alone feeling generally fine Smile

I felt hungover for a week or two with #1, and very tired in the first semester. Apart from that, no sickness, cravings etc etc in all three children. All healthy and happy.

TheNoodlesIncident · 06/04/2020 10:56

I never felt sick at all, only felt a bit yuck at the ninth month stage where the baby was pushing up into my stomach. In fact I asked for and got an additional scan at 9 weeks as I couldn't detect any symptoms and felt uneasy. I'd had a previous silent miscarriage so they were happy to do it to reassure me, and I didn't have any more except the 12 week and anomaly scans.

I did need to go to the loo more often, but apart from suddenly feeling exceptionally hungry, or suddenly feeling exceptionally exhausted, that was it.

I think it's one of those mixed blessings in that it can make you feel really nervous but at the same time, it's something to be grateful for. Fingers crossed it goes well for you OP

Gatehouse77 · 06/04/2020 11:00

I had mild nausea for a couple of days with my first and...that was it!
Even my labours weren't too bad.

It can happen but I had no reason to think anything was wrong either.

rhnireland · 06/04/2020 11:04

I was sick as a dog through my pregnancy and had all the symptoms but I remember that everyone else I knew who was pregnant was having a lovely symptom free pregnancy

RedRedWines · 06/04/2020 11:07

I had zero symptoms throughout! Paid for an early scan just for some reassurance. Only symptoms I had even by the end was a bump and I ate a rather large amount of watermelon. I did feel him kick for the first time at 15 weeks though so that was a big relief. Also I’m sure it is genetic, no one in my family has had morning sickness or particularly difficult pregnancies.

DelurkingAJ · 06/04/2020 11:08

I felt a bit sick one day with one of my two pregnancies (DSs are 7 and 4). Midwife said she would never have guessed that DS1 was my first because it was so smooth. I missed that I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks (implantation bleeding and only just off the pill). My skin (never good) went completely to pot. Heartburn later on, which was not much fun. And I was so tired. But that was it.

DS1’s birth wasn’t great but I recovered quickly.

Hi OP @BuffaloCauliflower it seems you are having a November baby and we have a thread where people feel the same as you or completely different. Please feel free to join us as you won't feel alone in having any or many symptoms.

I had no tiredness at all, no feeling hungover, nothing, until 8 weeks when I suddenly got horrific sickness. But that was all. I medicated it and was fine. I didn’t miss a gym session. You may just be lucky and have a lovey pregnancy, some people do.

Heatherjayne1972 · 06/04/2020 11:14

Three pregnancies. Three healthy babies
Hardly noticed I was pregnant. Apart from the large bump. I felt a bit nauseous but was never sick
My sense of smell was heightened
But that’s all.

Bee128 · 06/04/2020 11:16

With my son (first baby) I had sickness from a very early stage. With my daughter (second child) I had very little symptoms until 8-9 weeks so it did worry me but she was absolutely fine!

Flythedragons · 06/04/2020 11:17

With my first dc I felt a bit off colour for a few days and that was it. My boobs were sore for about a week and then nothing. I had had an previous early loss and was very sensitive to any symptoms as they would have been reassuring. Everything was absolutely fine.

With my second dc I had sickness constantly for about 4 months.

Every pregnancy is different and no symptoms is not something to worry about. Congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 11:17

Thanks @canueve Smile I have popped into the November baby threads, but I find such busy threads a bit overwhelming as I can’t keep track of everyone! I will say hi though

I got to 24 weeks before I even knew I was pregnant. I have PCOS so never had regular periods anyway. I actually thought DS was a water infection at first 😂

I hardly out on any weight either until about week 30 (born at 35 weeks) and then it was hardly anything. Was back in my jeans 2 days later

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 11:19

@Bee128 not till 8 weeks?! Maybe I’ve just got it on the slow burner and it’s still to come Confused time will tell!

No sickness here except once when there was fishy cutlery in the dishwasher and I got a big whiff. I just had sore boobs, an aversion to eggs, and felt a bit tired. DS is now 17 months.

fishonabicycle · 06/04/2020 11:46

No symptoms at all here! Didn't even know I was pregnant for almost 3 months. Then no sickness or anything.

girl78 · 06/04/2020 12:11

I'm 22+5, and I've had zero pregnant symptoms. So far, I've had no sickness, no tiredness, no cravings; very much business as usual!

I had my booking in appointment at 12 weeks and asked the midwife if it was ok to not have had any symptoms yet, as I was also worried, and she said some woman just don't show signs :)

Amanduh · 06/04/2020 12:13

Felt absolutely fine with both. First one I was on the pill as well so I had no idea until 16-17 weeks 😂🙈 this time around no symptoms either. I’ve had bad heartburn with both later on. That’s literally it!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/04/2020 12:15

I had no sickness with either of mine.
The only symptom, apart from the missed period, was a slight but definite tingle in one boob. I had that both times, very early on, but just the once.

june2007 · 06/04/2020 12:20

Sink about once in eah in prenancy and no cravings. My side effects were Renauds of the nipple. (ver painful) And my ribs hurt with first pregnncy meaning I was more comy sitting on a birthing/gym ball then a chair.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 12:40

Thanks all. The odd womb twinge and ‘heavy’ feelings down there can also be filed under ‘worrying but totally normal’. Does anyone make it through pregnancy without anxiety?!

OP posts:
Siameasy · 06/04/2020 12:44

Not me but SIL had no symptoms at all. No cravings either if I recall. Not sure she was even that tired. She was worried because she compared herself to me but it must be a sliding scale.

DappledThings · 06/04/2020 13:13

Had a bit of a woozy/hungover feeling and some tiredness in the afternoons on and off, boobs have been a bit sore but also on and off, mostly I feel fine. No vomiting, no feeling awful

This was me too. And my mum also said she never had any sickness so I think there may be a genetic element to it.

MinorArcana · 06/04/2020 13:51

Hardly any pregnancy symptoms here either. It was all rather worrying until I had the scans.

With DC1, until the pregnancy was far enough along for me to feel baby movements, the only symptom I had was missed periods.

DC2, my sense of smell noticeably improved very early on, but otherwise the same as DC1.

DC3 I had the most symptoms, but that was just a very very occasional bit of nausea. Plus I had some bleeding early on, which didn’t help my nerves.
