Oh there are so many of the older and younger generation that feel like that. It certainly would be a different approach, just let it flow through and increase mortuary capacity and not worry too much about trying to get people through it. Also she is right, the odds are in her favour and everyones. Even in the over 80s, the death rate is only about 20%. 1 in 5 risk of dying is a risk many are willing to take.
Many more people would die with that approach of course but in some respects that could be better for the country and the economy in the long run as the epidemic would be over much faster. It would be short sharp and painful rather than long and drawn out and ... alwo quite painful. More people will survive but at what cost. The care of the older generation and vulnerable ill people is a big strain on the NHS. I cannot see the UK government going down that route myself although I thought they were going to to begin with, and thought it was quite feisty but they did fold in the end as the numbers that would die in just a few months looked so big.
