I work part time and look after my two lovely daughters the rest of the time. We don't have loads of physical play toys and am wondering about buying a trampoline? Or a mini bike? Or both?

What will they play with and not just fight over ?!

You will get shot down in flames by the non essential police on here OP. Just warning you now.

I think they're maybe a little young for a trampoline. You can try the bikes. My DS's loved their scooters around that age.

Whatsmyname26 · 04/04/2020 21:15

Water table and accessories would be my recommendation or a mud kitchen

Patchworksack · 04/04/2020 21:16

Paddling pool, Sand and water tray, Ride on toys. If you get a trampoline get a little toddler one with a handle. Chalks to draw on drive/patio.
I would - it looks likely that a lot of the summer will be on lockdown - the more you can entertain them in the garden, the better.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 21:17

My friend bought her kids a trampoline just as the lockdown started and she’s very happy she did

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 04/04/2020 21:17

Climbing frame and slide

FlapAttack23 · 04/04/2020 21:18

Tuff tray with a little water and ball pool balls

Postmanbear · 04/04/2020 21:18

Water table, micro scooters, little tykes cosy coupe, mini slide, indoor trampoline are all things we’ve got at the same age boys play with

Detectoristnotmetaldetector · 04/04/2020 21:18

My dc are similar ages and they enjoy

Teeter popper
Moluk bilibo
Scuttle bug ride on
Scooter and balance bike for the eldest when we go to the park
Stepping stones
Bean bags to throw

We don't have a trampoline, I'm sure they'd love one though

Marmite27 · 04/04/2020 21:19

Scuttle bugs?

EmeraldShamrock · 04/04/2020 21:20

Sand and water pit keeps them busy for hours.

Whatsername177 · 04/04/2020 21:20

A cheap 2 person tent as a den. My two are 8 and 3 and it provides hours of entertainment. I've been known to put it un in the conservatory when the weather is crap.

schafernaker · 04/04/2020 21:21

We got a swing and slide for DD who’s 1 just before this all kicked off! She loves it, her little tikes car and scuttle bug. General pottering in the garden and helping water with a little watering can is her favourite though 🥰

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 04/04/2020 21:21

I've been trying to get dd a trampoline... Everyone has had similar ideas cos they are out of stock.

Wayfair have some excellent offers on climbing frames and are still delivering if you cam afford them (£200-250 Mark) or some cheap scooters and a sandpit if money is tighter.

Acidrain · 04/04/2020 21:23

Y DS is 2 in the garden we've got

A play house
Ride on toy
Kids scooter
Water table
Sandpit (just sand in a big plastic box)
Bug hunting stuff
A mini trampoline with a handle
Mud kitchen

Most was gifted for his 2nd birthday but the best thing is the sand in a plastic storage box, can put a lid on to keep it water tight and is movable around the garden - we had the sand but no sand pit

20 years ago my boys had this and it was the best money I ever spent and when they outgrow it the resale value of it will be a great help to get the next sized activity toy.

@Dontsweatthelittlestuff this is the one thing we do have and has been excellent! Despite the 3yo being a long as the slide now :)

We have just bought a trampoline it’s great my two year old will stay on it for an hour or so, we now have a trampoline a slide a sand table and a water table, it’s great! I wouldn’t get a bike for the garden maybe a scooter but unless you have a huge garden without grass it would be hard to cycle.

PowerslidePanda · 04/04/2020 21:39

My DD got a Rody for her 2nd birthday and it's been well used. You could have it as either an indoor toy or an outdoor one - we've got ours inside and it's a good way for her to burn off energy when we can't get out into the garden. Don't forget to buy a pump too though!

BikeRunSki · 04/04/2020 21:40

Mud Kitchen

Samtsirch · 04/04/2020 21:40

A mini indoor trampoline uses up excess energy and takes up little space , great for the 3 year old .

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/04/2020 21:42

Deffo a tuff tray!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 04/04/2020 21:42

Bubble machine.

MsMarple · 04/04/2020 22:07

These aqua play lock boxes were on offer in Tesco for £20 a couple of days ago - even though my kids are 8+ now, I was still soooooo tempted to buy one, as they absolutely loved one at a friends house when they were toddlers. Gave my head a wobble, but I would buy one in a flash for a three year old in lockdown! www.amazon.co.uk/AquaPlay-1616-Aquaplay-LockBox/dp/B01MDS1EPQ?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
