To be worried my tinnitus could kill me?

I have had really loud pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear for the past 4 weeks. It started off only being there at night, and although still bad at night, which is why I’m not sleeping now, it has progressed to being there every day especially when I go from sitting to standing or lying to sitting.
I went to the GP who referred me to the ENT because apparently it can be caused by narrowing of the carotid artery and/or an embolism in the artery. I was told I would be seen soon.
Today I had a letter from the hospital saying that in the current coronavirus situation my appointment was postponed. But if it is caused by a blocked artery or similar how can I wait? I’m terrified I’m going to have a stroke.
Has anyone been through similar before?

My dh has had this for about a year now. He went to docs who were quite dismissive about it. I’m pushing him to go back and get some answers as to why this is the case.

My dad suffered horribly with tinnitus in the final 18 months of his life (early 60s). They couldn't find anything to treat it, and he was incredibly stressed from it, and then had a nervous breakdown... I know that's not helpful OP, but if we could have our time with dad again, we'd have pushed him to access mental health support MUCH earlier. He found that some sounds made the tinnitus much worse (he had a thing about the sound of water going through pipes, and the extractor fan on the oven).

But then, after suffering for about a year, it just stopped. Just overnight, it went away!

It was a blessing to all of us that we were then able to spend a few happy months together, with him in better health, before he passed away with a sudden liver problem.

I have Ménière's disease with constant tinnitus in the affected ear. You do kind of get used to it eventually so it becomes almost a background noise. Music on quietly in the room where possible helps. Wave noises at night or thunderstorms sounds really helpful for sleeping.

@Thudthudthud did you manage to get to the bottom of this? I’m also going through the same!
