The national theatre is screening a play every Thursday evening at 7.00 on YouTube. For free!!!!

One Man Two Guvnors tonight. I saw it live and although James Corden isn't my favourite actor he brought so much energy to the show it was irresistible.

I'm looking forward to the 23 rdwhen it is Tamsin Greig (shout ou to all the Friday Night Dinner fans) in 12 th Night which is terrific.

We don't tend to be at home in the evenings for any length of time, so aren't really into the dramas on TV. These screenings are a treat.

I'm really pleased they are leaving things up on Youtube for a few days. The outlaws keep wanting to do multi-continent Skypes (and, since they ought to be self isolating, we can't really begrudge them this), but it does mean that we have rather extended 'intervals'.

We were supposed to be on holiday this week, so I have taken time to explore museums and webcams. To replicate our customary Spring holiday we should probably dress up in waterproofs and lob water at each other!

Having now seen James Corden and Shaun Williamson (Barry from Eastenders) play Francis Henshall I was surprised that Corden was nowhere near as good as Shaun Williamson who really surprised us by totally stealing the show.

Oh something lovely, thank youSmile

The Twelfth Night is fantastic, I saw it live and I'm really looking forward to seeing it again. It's a good play anyway, and it was the funniest version I've seen on stage, every single character was funny, even Olivia who's usually dull.

The one next thursday is Jane Eyre - I saw that live too and omg it was a wonderful production, so creative and imaginative and fresh.

I came on to say the same thing, this was a fantastic production and definitely worth watching. One of the most original pieces of theatre I’ve seen.

What age is One Man Two Govnors suitable for? Wondering if the DC can watch it with us.

wonderstuff · 03/04/2020 22:37

I'd say it's a 12+, nothing explicit but lots of sex references.

KatyMac · 03/04/2020 22:39

Any idea which version of Jesus Christ superstar is going to be on

My daughter adored the live version recently!

Joseph was loads of fun

I'm have thought One man two guvners would be suitable for most ages (quite fawlty towers imo)

BikeRunSki · 03/04/2020 22:49

Tried to watch Wind in the Willows, wouldn’t download. Tried to watch Joseph tonight, it just buffered. I love the idea of all this free streaming, but it doesn’t always deliver.

wonderstuff · 03/04/2020 22:54

JCS will have Tim Minchin as Judas

CountFosco · 04/04/2020 17:08

Watching Joseph. DD1 (12) horrified at Joan Collins undressing Joseph!

The Guardian has a good list of theatre productions online.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 04/04/2020 17:14

Is Joseph still available? I can't get that link to work.

LIZS · 05/04/2020 17:28

Think Joseph was released for 48 hours. Watched One Man Two Governors last night which was fun if a bit over long. Did anyone see it live and could comment on whether Christine was a plant?

KatyMac · 05/04/2020 19:04

I watch One Man and Joseph - is anything else on? Ideally tonight!

LaneBoy · 05/04/2020 19:17

@CountFosco I was a bit too :o I loved all the music from Joseph as a child but never actually saw it until today - that part of the plot had passed way over my head it seems. 😳

HarrietTheShy · 05/04/2020 19:23

Joseph is working for me (watching right now via Youtube app).

AllAboutHallowsEve · 05/04/2020 19:29

Royal Courts superb production of Cyprus Avenue with Stephen Rea is on YouTube now. Very funny and dark (contains violence).

WifflyWaffle · 05/04/2020 22:24

@CountFosco There’s a joke about a bloke ‘gang raping little boys’ which wasn’t to my taste at all and I’m not sure I’d view it as a family comedy.

positivepixie · 05/04/2020 22:30

LIZS yes she was definitely a plant - bloody good though wasn’t she! I immediately had to google it.

viques · 06/04/2020 17:16

Just found that Cirque de Soleil ,is doing 60 minute specials on YouTube. You don't get the same hundreds of things happening all at once where to look that you do in the live shows but stil good fun to watch, speaking as someone who can't carry a cup of tea without slopping it juggling and acrobatics is a closed world to me and I marvel at it. And the costumes are amazing.
