Local gym just delivered a flier

What is it about "stay inside" and "essential trips only" that they don't understand?

Everybody is at home so they must have thought more people would read it.

What would be a reasonable response to this? E-mail them, share to local facebook group, organise a boycott? I can't believe they are this stupid.

OP....you're mad because someone is advertising their business which isn't currently open and therefore isn't encouraging anyone to go outside??

Mia1415 · 02/04/2020 17:16

Many businesses are not coming to come out of this.

I can't see any problem with someone advertising in the hope that they can get some more customers when they are allowed to open.

The person delivering is carrying out their job (which is allowed). It isn't just key workers that are allowed to work.

I really couldn't get excited about this in the grand scheme of things.

Daisyhut · 02/04/2020 17:17

I do get OPs point. Corona can survive on cardboard and junk mail is not vital.

PositiveVibez · 02/04/2020 17:18

I genuinely don't understand what the issue is here.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/04/2020 17:18

It’s alright I doubt they delivered you the leaflet as you’ve a fat arse, the whole street probably got one- your not special flower 😃

😂😂😂😂 at this.

Chill the fuck out OP

Stet · 02/04/2020 17:19

Huh? If they aren't open then what's the issue? People aren't going to flock to closed gym Confused They're doing it to remain top of people's minds for when they reopen, which is a struggle a lot of small businesses will have when they're out of sight, out of mind.

Stet · 02/04/2020 17:20

As for the 'junk mail' argument, until Royal Mail stop delivering shite through our letterbox from much bigger, national companies, I can't get worked up about small local businesses just trying to survive and safeguard their future.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 02/04/2020 17:21

What's the issue.

It's likely lots of people will join a gym when we are able to go back out.

They are advertising, to keep people remembering they are still there and preparing for when they can open again.

My work are still arranging future work, with NHS trusts, guvernemebr buildings, facility management companies. We arent booking it in and going next week.

But we need lots if work available when we open again

Chiyo666 · 02/04/2020 17:22

Unless they’re licking them first before sticking them through your letterbox I don’t really see what the problem is.

Auridon4life · 02/04/2020 17:24

Most people who deliver fliers are on a very low income and need the money even though it's a pittance and very hard work.

PeacockPies · 02/04/2020 17:27

Surely it's a good time to send out leaflets. While they have nothing better to do. And if people don't have fat arses before isolation they will soon.

My brother has his own business and he's doing everything he can to keep it going.......actually he isn't. He's sleeping until 11am and then lying on the sofa in his pyjamas watching The Simpsons. Is that worthy of your admiration?

Itallgoingpetetong · 02/04/2020 17:33

What is it about "stay inside" and "essential trips only" that they don't understand?

They were delivering leaflets as part of their daily walk for exercise, they weren’t encouraging people to go to the gym now, not sure why it’s such a problem tbh.

Dipi79 · 02/04/2020 17:34

OP, why be so rude to @ghostyslovesheets? Totally unnecessary.
Hope you are feeling a bit more chilled now you have got this out of your system...
Jesus...

Winterwoollies · 02/04/2020 17:47

This is a joke, right? It has to be a joke. Either that or people are genuinely going stark staring mad from spending so much time at home.

NotACleverName · 02/04/2020 17:57

Have you logged it with 101 yet?

cologne4711 · 02/04/2020 18:07

Gosh I'm actually a lot more relaxed about things than most MNers but I don't think people should be delivering leaflets at the moment. The person inside the house has to then handle it to get rid of it. Given half of you are disinfecting your post, I wouldn't have thought you would want random leaflets through the door.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 02/04/2020 18:29

@SuckingDieselFella
No I don't my life is great.
So because I fond that really funny I must have a dull life, now quite sure how you worked that out but if you felt the need to post on them delivering fliers you must be bored or possibly this is the highlight of your dull life?

Kb12 · 02/04/2020 18:39

I don't think people should be delivering fliers either

thequeenbeyondthewall · 02/04/2020 18:45

I don't really either but I think the worry of going bankrupt, losing their home etc, redundancy for staff is making people panic about getting new business in when this is over.

It's contactless so arguably it's ok as lots of others are doing contactless delivery.

They may be advertising online classes. Our karate and brownies are.

Op I wasn't laughing at you I was laughing at the response I saw that I thought was funny. I didn't mean to offend you I think your response to me was a bit much. Never mind eh, strange times.
