My sister in law has tagged 60 people on her fb. She wants us, all to bring a couple of Easter eggs and drop them off in her front garden so she can donate them to the nurses on the fronline.
While it's a lovely idea.. Should that many people.. Possibly a lot more as its now being shared... Be making the trip to her house to drop off eggs? It's a fair journey for some.

No I don't think it's essential.

Locally we have people baking and then delivering cakes etc to the hospital which I'm also unsure about, and surprised that hospital staff have seemingly agreed this is a good idea and given it the go ahead. Not all, but definitely a few have. I wouldn't want to eat home made cakes from a bunch of strangers houses right now.

Aldi are donating a million Easter eggs to good causes. Send her a link to that and get her to notify them of the worthy cause.

No, it's self serving
Anybody who does this is an idiot, has she not seen the news?

Ethelfleda · 02/04/2020 12:47

Nope. Not essential. And blatantly virtue signalling.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/04/2020 12:49

Virtue-signalling nonsense. If she 'used to be a midwife herself', you'd think she'd know better and be actively supporting the NHS by encouraging people to FOLLOW THE GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES instead of flagrantly disregarding them.

BovaryX · 02/04/2020 12:52

I don't think it's a good idea. Isn't there evidence that the virus can exist on plastic for an extended period? Multiple people dropping off multiple plastic wrapped eggs covered in multiple handprints. Just seems like a not very good idea....

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 02/04/2020 12:54

Do nurses really want eggs that have been handled by countless people?

satansbumhole · 02/04/2020 12:54

as a midwife (who will have done nurse training beforehand?) she should know this goes against infection control....taught in your first year as a student!!

dumb idea. she needs to flick through her text books!

rwalker · 02/04/2020 12:56

think most adults just see easter eggs for what they are. Are a complete waste of packaging and gernate waste and plastic for landfill.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 02/04/2020 12:57

Utterly ridiculous. They should all get fined. If everyone decided to do similar things for nurses or other networkers then everyone would be out on the streets.

Is this virtue-signalling to get herself on TV or in newspapers?

Seeitsortit · 02/04/2020 12:59

Now that will make a pretty picture on Facebook/Instagram won’t it.......

WickedlyPetite · 02/04/2020 12:59

Did you even do a good did if you didn't post it on Facebook Hmm

I'd reply on Facebook so everyone can see - "I won't be doing this SIL, it's not an essential journey - I'll donate the cost of an egg direct to a charity that the hospital uses/recommends/supports".
