The Daily Mail are loving photographing and shaming people - they are in their element

Judging people
Calling them idiiots
Doing lots of photographs of people breaking the rules

Their newest one is calling a street of people idiots because they stand at their doorstep and do a dance. Apparently they are inches apart - which is apparent from the photos they aren't

Showing pictures of people doing 'illegal exercise'
People buying things from shops they don't need - in the DMs view

I know it's what to expect from the Daily Mail

I agree with TellMeTruth4's post - and it's amazing how aligned the DM are with most of the mumsnet posters. Utter tabloid mentality with lots of raging, but limited thought or discussion either.

I've never seen mumsnet like this before Brexit and now everything is treated like that - you're either with the 'borg' (and have DM as your source material) or you are the enemy and worthless.

I'm not sure why that's the default but, in my opinion it is.

As far as I can remember, you’ve always been advocating lefty, socialist solutions to problems on here. Well, here it is - the wholesale restriction of personal liberty in the name of protecting society as a whole, backed up by a combination of legal sanction and social shaming.

Enjoy Wink

PhilCornwall1 · 01/04/2020 11:13

Let me guess - you read the Independent?

Nice!! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2020 11:13

I am quite enjoying the daily bulletins of people coming out of The Range etc with all their ‘essentials’.Blush Best one so far being a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Alsohuman · 01/04/2020 11:14

I want to know how the hell they justify sending their photographer out. Going out to take photographs of people in order to print self-righteous bollocks about them hardly constitutes an essential journey

They don’t. They’ve got plenty of Stasi who do it for nothing.

SwerfandTurf · 01/04/2020 11:15

The Daily Mail have been printing photos taken months ago, stolen from social media, and lying that they are recent.

VivaLeBeaver · 01/04/2020 11:15

Problem is such media coverage whips up hysteria and this flows out into real life.

Someone in my village getting into their car to go to work this morning was screamed at by a passing dog walker who accused him of killing people and told he he should be staying at home. Car driver was heading off to local engineering firm where they’re making ventilator parts!

bruffin · 01/04/2020 11:19

NO different to MN then really and the guardian readers i come across

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 01/04/2020 11:19

Most of the pictures are ‘faked’ in some way

And i really object to Children being photographed doing something ‘wrong’ especially when they don’t appear to be doing anything wrong

Cattenberg · 01/04/2020 11:20

Vilifying the DM is no better than the DM vilifying people.

If you ever see me promoting Facism, trying to profit from terrorist atrocities or using child murders as fuel for stirring up hatred against benefit claimants or immigrants, then feel free to vilify me.

derxa · 01/04/2020 11:28

I read the DM website every day. Same as most of you on here. I also read the Guardian website every day. I'm too mean to subscribe to news websites. I take both their biases with a pinch of salt.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 01/04/2020 11:32

I flick through the headlines...and stop if there Is anything interesting

There rarely is Grin

I did have the times subscription but i got stressed trying to get my money’s worth and read all the supplements

Might sign back up...its only £15 at the moment

HannahStern · 01/04/2020 11:41

Two weeks ago they ran a feature on the brave elderly folk strolling around at the seaside without a care in the world. Lots of Blitz spirit, it’s just a bloody cold, snowflake hysteria, in my day we walked 20 miles to school shite. The comments egged them on.
Now you’re vilified for taking a bike ride which will LITERALLY kill an old person.

Grin Grin

I tend to the low brow. Grin I find it astonishing that the fame hungry like that poor girl Lauren Goodger are still being 'papped' during lockdown. I also love the witterings of the privileged from the Guardian such as this article.

Cheeryandmerry · 01/04/2020 11:48

Is anyone else hoping this ends up in the DM? Grin

caramac04 · 01/04/2020 11:52

I love the street dance offs. Great fun and community bonding without getting too close. DM can f**k off.

I literally wade through sheep shite everyday. But I don't think she wants that kind of 'country'

chomalungma · 01/04/2020 12:33

@CendrillonSings

Yes - this is exactly what I want.
Mass unemployment
An overwhelmed NHS
Government control of our lives
The elderly starving alone in their homes
The police and the Daily Mail shaming people online

The only good things to come out of this is that people realise how valuable the underpaid and undervalued members of society are.

How much the State is needed when the shit hits the fan

How communities pull together and support each other.

How everyone is doing their bit to help others - in spite of the social and economic cost

I hope we come out of this a changed society.

I hope we come out of this a changed society.

I hope we realize that socialism’s only legitimate place is in a wartime or pandemic emergency of this nature, and that we emerge from its cold embrace with a new-found passion and respect for freedom and liberty 🗽

KonTikki · 01/04/2020 13:02

Freedom and Liberty, yes !
But I really cannot view the Daily Smell as being their flag bearer

chomalungma · 01/04/2020 13:02

With a recognition of decent social security, valued NHS, a respect for teachers and education, investment in the poorer places of the UK, decent broadband, support for renters, support for lower paid people.

I can live with that. Can you?

Of course I can - every word of it was in the 2019 Conservative manifesto!

Sadly none of that will happen. The reason we are in the shit at the moment is because of an under-valued NHS. Lessons learned from all this by the Government? None

chomalungma · 01/04/2020 13:26

Agreement .

That's what I like to hear
