Being scared of Fitbit

I know that title sounds weird but it’s the middle of the night and I’m shaking. I don’t wear the Fitbit at night so I leave it on the dressing table. Anyway I’ve noticed that if you go near it then it flashes green and about 30 minutes ago it started flashing green even though I was completely still. I had this horrible scared feeling as I felt something had been near it for it to go off. I realise I sound insane but I’m too scared to sleep.

Sounds strange, but is your Bluetooth on on your phone/laptop? It may just be connecting to that?

I0NA · 01/04/2020 01:34

Is it on charge ?

Iateallthecookies000 · 01/04/2020 01:37

It’s not connected to Bluetooth at the moment and it’s not on charge. I’ve noticed through the day when I’m sometimes not using it that it flashes green if I ever go near it

A quick Google suggests it's trying to find a heart rate reading. You can turn it off if it's bugging you within the app I think.

Duckdown · 01/04/2020 01:44

So does mine. Nothing to worry about Smile

Iateallthecookies000 · 01/04/2020 01:46

Duckdown really?

Thanks guys 😊

Can't you turn it off or put it in another room?

SpoonBlender · 01/04/2020 01:59

Apple watches do that sometimes too - stay lit green on the sensors underside after you've taken them off. They give up after a bit.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/04/2020 02:14

Put it in the freezer (Friends reference).

nachthexe · 01/04/2020 02:17

Ha! Dd2 wraps hers in a glasses cloth because the flashy lights drive her bonkers at night. (And also because of advanced stages of paranoia wrt the wifi link).
But yes. Freezer. Grin

Iateallthecookies000 · 01/04/2020 08:19

It stopped flashing eventually and I fell asleep but tonight it’s going to be in a drawer Grin

Yes, those lights are the heart rate sensors trying to find a reading. They light up at any slight movement, so even just the vibration of you moving in bed can set it off.

NailsNeedDoing · 01/04/2020 08:45

Yeah, mine does that too, it’s nothing for you to worry about.

grammarhelp · 01/04/2020 09:17

I put a movement activated light on too of the cistern of the loo in the ensuite so we don't have to put on the main light if we need to use it during the night.
DP not at home at the moment.
Last night I noticed the light kept coming on and then going off after a few minutes.
I'm hoping it's just a malfunction and not some ghostly spectre wafting around.Shock

Iateallthecookies000 · 01/04/2020 13:55

You know I realise I sound completely bonkers but I was suddenly terrified! I can’t explain it, the lights started flashing and then I felt so scared for no reason.

It's an anxiety provoking time at the moment and your brain was just finding somewhere to put the stress. I developed a fear of flying for the same reason!

I0NA · 01/04/2020 13:58

Well yes you do sound a bit bonkers but we are living in bonkers times Grin.

Iateallthecookies000 · 01/04/2020 14:20
