Just that, really. Done sticker books, playing, hiding in the tent, playing in the garden, bit of YouTube videos. Even had a lovely tantrum over not giving him a butterfly sticker - how dare I give him what he asked for 🤪🤦🏻‍♀️ AND IT IS STILL
HOURS UNTIL
BED TIME.

Anyone else with me?!

Yep! Managed to get about 2 hours of school work from my 7 year old. We're now watching a film.. This is exhausting!

Merename · 31/03/2020 15:14

Hell yes. Still getting over suspected cv and DH working upstairs. Have just been lounging happily while wee one naps and older one on cartoons and an online dance class. Hear wee one stirring now tho and the thought of dragging myself up for another 4hrs...

livingthegoodlife · 31/03/2020 15:18

Yes. me too. I'm hiding indoors with a cup of tea whilst they run wild in the garden (after a whole morning of homeschool). Tv time is coming....

crispysausagerolls · 31/03/2020 15:28

@livingthegoodlife

Genius

Why do all the activities they want to do involve maximum exertion? DS can’t just sit still it’s running from
One room to the next then upstairs then downstairs I am tired 😭😭😭😭

IamChipmunk · 31/03/2020 15:52

We down tools at 3pm and put the tv on or the kids 'free play' or play outside! Mummy school is over for the day!! Gives me an hour and a half or so to regain sanity or exercise if its the relevant day before tea, bath and bed.

Put the tv on!

ClaraLane · 31/03/2020 16:03

Yep! I’m 20 weeks pregnant and have DD who is 2 3/4 at home with me while DH works upstairs. Today has been a no nap day and consequently I’m getting a lot of attitude from her. She’s also constantly smacking my bump which is not good at all. DH will hopefully be finished in 2 hours and until then we’re going to be watching TV.

crispysausagerolls · 31/03/2020 16:45

@IamChipmunk

I feel awful about the amount of tv we are resorting to! But it’s impossible without it

crispysausagerolls · 31/03/2020 16:47

@ClaraLane

I feel you! DS finds hilarious to try to sit on my bump

I've resorted to putting the wiggles on on YouTube. I need wine!

APurpleSquirrel · 31/03/2020 16:52

I'm currently sat in the back garden freezing my ass off watching the DC play. 🥶

Onescaredmuma · 31/03/2020 16:58

YANBU we did school until lunch then outdoor play (back garden) until 2:30 now I'm hiding from them for an hour leaving them with DH before he goes onto a night shift I actually felt like crying please don't leave me with them when he got up after his sleep. All three of them have been demons today. I really can't blame them though tomorrow we've been in 2 weeks as DS has respiratory problems and we pulled the older 2 out of school early to protect him. For the most part they've dealt with the upheaval very well.

pigsDOfly · 31/03/2020 17:02

Makes me feel quite panicky just to read this thread.

My DD is at home with three young ones and is pregnant.

She seems to be coping very well, better than I think I would have coped in this situation.

I think if I had been through this with small children a great deal of television would have been watched. Although, having said that, when my children were small there was very little children's television.

Straycatstrut · 31/03/2020 17:04

Mine hate TV. I have to actually bribe them to watch it whilst I go into another room - sometimes to have a little cry. They then end up screaming and fighting.

We're mainly doing schoolwork, craft and activities, then long walk with the dog. The long walk today was ridiculous though, there's just way too many families/joggers/runners/bikers/hikers/other dog walkers to do it safely and it's the bit that's keeping my sanity!

I wish so much I could just have a long walk by myself to recharge. I envy 2 parent households so much at the moment!

Todayissunny · 31/03/2020 17:04

@Thorilicious if you managed to get 2 hours school work out of a7y.o. I think you can congratulate yourself. That is impressive.

Straycatstrut · 31/03/2020 17:09

Mine does similar but not all at once. It's 10/20 mins here and there. Today he did 4 mini maths test booklets (sent from school) we've drawn and painted our hand giraffes, and he's written a story about him and his best friends. I think that's fine for today.

Teacher12345 · 31/03/2020 17:09

Yes it is exhausting and soooo boring! This is why I am not a SAHM. I always knew I wasn't cut out for it!
I am trying to do things in chunkc. TV off at 9 for some school work then chuck them in the garden.
at 10.30 they have a snack and then I play a game with them. 12ish they go back on screens whilst I make lunch and they are off them again at 1.30 to do more playing. Allowed them again at 4.30 until after tea.
I am still working from home so have to allow screens to get some work done!

frogsbreath · 31/03/2020 17:12

We took a minecraft break from schoolwork buts it's so boring I fell asleep and the sheep escaped from the pen I made (I didn't know they could jump over blocks).

Ds8 is not happy with me but I just feel so sluggish & tired. Minecraft is so boring as well, I wanted to play Lego Harry Potter Grin

Thorilicious · 31/03/2020 17:26

@Straycatstrut I'm the same, it's not all at once, it's broken down into sections. Also, not without some stress sometimes on both parts 😂

crispysausagerolls · 31/03/2020 17:28

I am a SAHM but it’s never ever ever this difficult
Or boring because you go
Out and meet friends and they do actual
Activities that structure your day. Like I don’t know wtf to do with this child of mine! 😂

Glad I am not alone. Wish I had some non alcoholic wine to pretend 😭

At least the older children with school work have something to do (although granted they don’t want to I’m sure!)

Yep and I've only been home from work for 3 hrs and Im already looking forward to bedtime Confused

Chrisinthemorning · 31/03/2020 17:31

Today we had an inset day. DS seemed so fed up yesterday. We got up late, lots of iPad/ TV/ Lego time. Read to him for ages in bed. Got up, lunch, guitar practice, baked, walk, a film.
Back to Joe Wicks and school work tomorrow

Chrisinthemorning · 31/03/2020 17:32

PS by 2.30 we always give up! Except today when we went for a walk

ClaraLane · 31/03/2020 18:19

@crispysausagerolls I have non-alcoholic beer that I’ll be drinking in the bath tonight. Will raise a toast to you!

One of DH’s colleagues has got in an arse about him stepping away from the computer a few times today to help me because I was at breaking point. Have pointed out to him that as said colleague is childless and has a 4 bed house with a garden I have no fucking sympathy for him. We have a 3 bed maisonette with a balcony so exactly what am I supposed to do?! Also told him I’m meant to be working from next Monday so what does his boss expect him to do then?

Doesn’t it just piss you off that all the lunchbreaks they miss and the nights they stay late at work count for sod all at a time like this!

crispysausagerolls · 01/04/2020 07:41

Aaaaand the gauntlet until bedtime starts again 🤪🤪🤪

@ClaraLane hope you enjoyed your beer!!! I really feel for you without a garden. Very tricky indeed. And yes, it must be significantly easier without children right now!
