Life after COVID-19

AIBU to wonder if life will radically change in the medium to long term in a post Coronavirus world?
Will we all slowly get back to normal and look back on 2020 half wondering if we woke up from a bad dream, or do we think the reality of our own fragility/mortality will have changed the human psyche forever? Will we suddenly pay greater attention to things things like climate change?
Will flexible working become a proper reality for people (mainly women) the world over rather than a concept that previously, many companies paid lip service to, now they know that the infrastructure to support WFH works for many sectors.
Or will we just sail on as if it never happened and nothing will change.
Very hard to know what the aftermath will be like.

Who knows. But, I think people will just carry on as normal.

For all its current hideouness, it would be a real shame if the world didn't change for the better after this.

Our society was failing so many and we are screwing the earth with climate change.

I would like to see:

proper funded health and social care and respect for those working in these sectors- particularly lower paid care workers.

Education which is funded properly and not tick box

Waking up to climate change - mother nature has just shown us what it can wreck on our species - respect it! Less consumerism, less foreign travel and more WFH should help

A society that values community and what true value someone brings

Food - Local and seasonal eating

Amongst other things

Id like to see people eating much less meat.

I can imagine more WFH but personally I’ve learnt how important face to face interaction is to me. I’m single so would most likely be at work, not just socialising. I’d feel very lonely if wfh all week even if it is better for the environment.

I'd love to see more options for WFH for people who struggle to work in an office or for working parents etc. And also I really hope the sense of community continues. It's one of the good things to have come out of this.

I hope it will make us collectively a bit wiser and less inclined to take things for granted.
