To take my child shopping?

Husband is working incredibly long shifts at the moment and by the time he finishes at 8 to watch the kids, the shops are completely empty.

I’m getting depressed that we have no proper food in the house now and feel I need to go early and get some stuff in but this would mean taking my child with me.

No fruit/veg left, no meat, no soap!

So my question is
a) am I allowed?

And WIBU to take him with me?

If you've got no other option then yes, take the children with you. It's less risky to do that than it is to do loads of little shopping trips because you can't get a full load in one go.

I’d avoid taking small children to shops for their sakes as much as anything. They don’t tend to understand how important it is to behave differently now, and it’s not their fault.

I asked the same question two weeks ago and got eaten alive how irresponsible that was, but I feel the same as you. When my partner was on his way home all he could get was a can of peaches. No 'real' food. You do what you got to do!

We'll be living like this for longer the more people do this.

If you absolutely have no other choice such as being a single parent but otherwise don't do it. Anyone can carry this virus and the more people bringing children to supermarkets the more it will spread, the longer we're living like this etc.

To be fair all the supermarkets here have reduced their hours to 8am-8pm so people don't have the option to go early or late anymore.

I've had to take mine, but left them in the car. If that's not an option, I'd secondly look at deliveries from butchers, bakers, greengrocers and milkman. And go for cupboard bits when I could go alone. I've checked and it isn't as expensive in my area as I'd feared it would be.

Taking a child into the shop would be my last choice where possible, but for some it just has to be done, I understand that.
