To ask you about period pants?

I have wanted to buy period pants for a while. The Thinx ones get great reviews but I'd need to spend £100 buying them which is just not going to happen.

I see Sainsbury's are doing a version - Luna - for a third of the price. Anyone tried them?

Or can you recommend any others? TIA

So if you go for a pee do you have to drag the pants down and do your legs get bloodied?

DesLynamsMoustache · 30/03/2020 12:44

No, they are absorbent. There isn't blood sitting on the top of them.

DesLynamsMoustache · 30/03/2020 12:44

And yes you do have to take your pants down to wee, presumably as you do when wearing normal ones! Grin

Floobydoodoo · 30/03/2020 12:48

@motherheroic if they start to feel damp you know they need changing - like a pad really. But they absorb a lot.

@Horehound there’s no dragging. They’re absorbent so no blood around to smear all over the place. They’re just like a normal pair of knickers, but thicker.

Floobydoodoo · 30/03/2020 12:49

@Horehound as if you had a pad in. Same as that. But actually nicer because no plasticky feel or smell and they’re black inside so you don’t have to even look at the blood.

Thanks so much, this is so useful. I haven't even heard of about three brands mentioned here so I'll get researching! Great to know so many of you have had a positive experience.

Fortunately I have light periods these days, so I assume they would be ideal for me. Really appreciate the responses.

What about clots? Dp they just sit on top like some awful pads that have stupid mesh on top?
I need to get some but worry about this.

motherheroic · 30/03/2020 13:52

@eatyourcake @Floobydoodoo Thank you for the response, I might invest in a pair just to see what it's all about.

BloodyBloodyHusband · 30/03/2020 13:52

I swear by my ModiBodi! They don’t smell, or feel damp or uncomfortable at all. I have 5 pairs of the highest absorbencies and they last me a heavy/fairly long period. Just remember to stick them in a cold wash on a low spin cycle to get the most out of them.

EmbarrassingMama · 30/03/2020 14:24

I've gone for a set of 4 from Tulip! They seem to be good value and are a little simpler than ModiBodi (which look really nice but there are so many varieties I couldn't make up my mind!).

Cheeky Wipes look good and are doing 3 for £30 which seems like a bargain, but they are out of stock in my size.

Tulip were £49, but with a £10 off code, so a tenner each. Seems like good value to me. I can't wait to give them a go - thanks for all your advice!

@Sunflower1987 The Tulip Panties wash really well and hold up really well - not had any that seem damaged after wearing or washing. Seem true to size. Comfy - I tend to just wear them all the time now. I'm not convinced they are the most absorbant ones out there though. I have had a few times they've leaked at the front or sides - they seem to wick the moisture away well, but if it's too heavy it gets wicked away onto the normal cotton and goes straight through. My periods can be very heavy though and the leaking only happens on my heaviest day. They seem to hold loads if you gently fill them up with water in the sink.

Sunflower1987 · 30/03/2020 15:14

Thanks for the review. I was about to order some this lunchtime but have now also been looking at the Floweret pants.... anyone used these abd care to offer an opinion? Its such a dilemma!

EmbarrassingMama · 30/03/2020 16:45

You can use code £10 for ten quid off with Tulip x

I still use sanpro, have been meaning to give period pants a try. I’m a little squicked about putting used ones in the washing machine though. I think I’d end up rinsing they until they were sort of clean.

katalex · 30/03/2020 17:15

Another vote for Modibodi. Yes, they're expensive but, if you buy one each month, you'll eventually have enough to last your whole period. My 15 year old dd thinks they're great and we no longer have to buy any pads or tampons.
