To just have no motivation to do any work at home?

I'm WFH at the moment and my motivation has gone. I'm just sitting staring at my computer, watching bits of TV, worrying about life generally, cleaning the house etc... I just have no motivation to do any actual work.

I'm a conveyancer so I just keep thinking it's only a matter of time before I'm either laid off or furloughed which isn't helping my feelings of 'fuck it'. I feel like I'm essentially working toward absolutely nothing at the moment.

I'm not usually a workshy slob but I just can't get into it. Anyone else feeling this way?

@Brookey5 I am also construction and your messages sound very similar to mine. Wonder if we are same business? Although I imagine all construction companies are facing the same.

I've just been furloughed so looks like it's not a problem now Sad

Oh @BuzzOffMate I’m sorry. We’ve had a conference call this morning saying those furloughed will know within the next 24 hours. I’m 99% certain I will be one of them so I’m just sat here waiting.

Brooksey5 · 30/03/2020 12:32

@Winterberry7 I think everyone where I work will know in the next 24 hours aswell. We have a big conference call later today with everyone on but I don’t know if those being furloughed will know by that call or not 😬

@BuzzOffMate sorry OP 💕

So sorry buzz Sad

BuzzOffMate · 30/03/2020 13:20

I'm okay thanks all. I saw it coming and am quite relieved the phone call has been done now.

Work were quite reassuring to be fair that they want everyone back in when this is over, they absolutely do not have any intention of making anyone redundant right now which is a positive.

(Oh and my lovely dad has offered to top me up by paying the 20% I'm losing every month. I'm not going to let him but it made me feel very fortunate. We'll be okay).

Good luck with it all

Oh no that's rubbish hopefully you'll be ok.

Also I know how you feel I work somewhere where you are only allowed to use work laptops for security purposes and they don't have enough so I'm trying to find things to do which isn't going to well. I was able to do an assignment for training on my own personal laptop but that's draining and boring at the best of times. Also once I have finished that I'm kind of out of things to do. Also I work in a very technical field that needs practical work to happen for me to have stuff to do. So nobody is on site so no work is happening... Very frustrating.

I have a report to write by mid april, and honestly dont have it in me. It needs to be done and it was already half completed few weeks back, but really dont have the energy or the brain power to put words on the page at the moment Sad

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 31/03/2020 09:38

Same for me. I WFH one day per week but since it became permanent I'm really struggling. It's like all of the good bits of life are gone but all the rubbish bits remain and have gotten bigger, and we're all just supposed to carry on as if everything is normal. My hours have gone up and I don't have a work/life balance anymore. I was suicidal occasionally before this, but it's basically constant now. Not that I can do anything about it, as the health services are overwhelmed with everything else. Just got to keep trucking on I suppose.

I'm really sorry that you've been furloughed, and it's great that your dad is so lovely. Flowers

I think last Friday things really hit home as Friday is always a bit more fun. People are asking what you have planned for the weekend etc whereas last Friday we were at home and staying home and I found it quite depressing tbh. One of my bosses sent an email saying something similar and that was when it really sunk in.

Lightuptheroom · 31/03/2020 12:01

My work has almost dried up, plenty to do but reliant on management decisions to be able to do them. They are talking constantly about redeploying (local government) but the decisions always have to be made higher up and then never seem to get made!

WinterBerry7 · 31/03/2020 20:32

I got furloughed today, effective from tomorrow.
