I bought DH a 3D printer for Christmas. Something he has been harping on about for years.
I told him when he opened it he'd need to build it up or at least go through it and make sure everything is there as it was from eBay in China and as it weighed a lot, sending it all back would be hard work. He went through it a bit and noticed one part was missing. I told him to go through it properly, check what parts weren't in it and I could contact the supplier. He kind of had a look and said "there's a few bits missing I think". I again said, well tell me which bits and I'll sort it. It's not like I could send such a vague message to the retailer saying "there's bits missing, send them but I can't tell you what". I even offered to go through it with him.

Again, he didn't. He never bothered getting round to it. Now almost 4 months after purchase he's suddenly decided it needs dealing with, moaning about it constantly, wanting me to send messages and get the bits that he still hasn't actually noted down! He won't shut up about it!

AIBU to say, you had your chance. I could have sent the whole thing back or at least got the parts but no way am I messing about now. Too late, pal.

I’d say your chances of getting any spare parts from China are in the 0% region. However I wouldn’t share that thought with DH and suggest that he contacts the seller himself since he is the expert on this.

It can be his new hobby. Smile

@MatildaTheCat you're right, especially after this long. If I had had a list of what was missing I could have sorted it through eBay, either getting a return, getting replacement parts or a partial refund at least. They're pretty universal so getting parts isn't impossible but DH can do it all himself now.

Cool. Get it working you can print some ventilators.

WickedlyPetite · 29/03/2020 21:03

"Here you go DH, here's the order number and the sellers contact details, knock yourself out".

TorkTorkBam · 29/03/2020 21:04

Sounds identifying the parts will be a brilliant keep him busy and out of your hair activity. Be all vague sympathetic noises, give him the seller's details and leave him to it.

OchAyeThaNoo · 29/03/2020 21:12

Sounds like a plan! He's had plenty of time to deal with it before now (works 7 days out of every 14) but if he has to stay home from work he'll have no excuse and it'll keep him out from under my feet. I mean it's for his benefit right? So he won't get bored at home.
