AIBU to think that some people think they are above the rules?

I work as a nanny for a very well off family, one is a keyworker, the other is not working with one child. They have insisted I absolutely need to go in with the threat of losing my job if I don’t. I’ve only been there a little while so won’t be entitled to anything.

I’ve voiced my concerns to them as I’m worried about bringing it home with me. Rather than let me go home they’ve insisted again and have gone so far as to say if it’s total lockdown then they still expect me to risk coming in because they ‘can’t cope’

They’ve written me a letter saying I am classed as essential due to one of them being keyworker but the letter is written to make it sound like they are a single parent.

Speaking to other nannies there are hundreds in the same or similar positions. Threatened and coerced into working. Mixing households. Not being able to adhere to the 2m rule with children. And it is not necessary because there is one person home that could look after the child.

AIBU or is my anxiety and lack of sleep over the situation getting to me?

Fuck em. Make the decision that you feel to be the correct one for yourself and your own family. You won't regret doing that. You may regret being coerced to do as they instruct.

What knobs! Fuck them and their poncy lies.

The idea that a nanny is “essential” to a SAHP is so entitled it is hilarious.

YAdefinitelyNBU.

What are your options money-wise if you resign?
