Hi,
I’m due to have an ELCS soon. I had an ELCS last year as well. I was hoping for a quick recovery as I read so much on here about how women found them ‘lovely’ and ‘wonderful’ however whilst the surgery itself was fine I found it really tough afterwards so I’m after some advice.

I had my last one at 3pm and was numb until the next morning so I couldn’t even attempt walking until then. I did try walking the next morning with my DH help. I found I couldn’t lift myself up from bed without help for at least a week. I think that’s something to do with the abdominal muscles? Or it may be because I had over a litre blood loss? I also felt weak and almost fainted when I was walking to the toilets but luckily DH was with me and caught me. Without being able to get up it’s very hard to get the baby out of the crib in order to feed, change and comfort them. Due to the current situation I won’t have my DH support in the postnatal ward so I’m worried about how I will manage. I know there will be staff around but they are always overstretched so I really want to see if there’s any way I can have a better experience this time. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.
