AIBU to be irked at so many people in the que?

So many people on my local FB pages are posting about the length of the que they're in, how long the que is, is there or isn't there a que....seems all they can focus on is the flippin que.

AIBU to be mildly irked....

that nobody seems to know to spell QUEUE anymore? Or even have the good manners to use the good old days misspelling, CUE?

is this new corona version that will be with us for forevermore?

I thought this was going to be about the queue to access the Boots website Grin no OP, YANBU. Although quite why we need so many redundant letters in one word is beyond me but hey that's the English language for you....

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/03/2020 14:01

ALOUD

No , you mean allowed. Boils my piss every time I see it.

KaronAVyrus · 29/03/2020 14:04

Dobby - I was just going to post the aloud/allowed issue. 😂

Amfeelingfline · 29/03/2020 14:10

@DieSchottin93. It’s french actually, from Latin... Wink. We too seem to have a lot of words with redundant letters... though I must say, the English language is probably the master for this your vocabulary is a pain in the backside 😂

DieSchottin93 · 29/03/2020 14:16

@Amfeelingfline well that explains it Grin I always think of English wasn't my mother tongue I'd be terrible at it.....

Amfeelingfline · 29/03/2020 17:22

@DieSchottin93 after more than 20 years I still get the piss taken out of me with some words... there will never be an end to it either... which is why, even though my grasp of the grammar is on the whole pretty good, my pronunciation can leave a lot to be desired 😉 doesn’t stop it from giving me the rage when I see spelling mistakes 😂😂😂

Amfeelingfline · 29/03/2020 17:24

Argh missed out part of a sentence, which is why I will not be teaching the kids English during this lockdown ...

Pigsnduvets · 29/03/2020 17:24

🤣🤣

DishingOutDone · 29/03/2020 17:27

Personally I can't bare it.

DishingOutDone · 29/03/2020 17:28

BTW Has anyone been on yet to say that OP should have better things to do with her time than ridicule people who can't spell?

RightOnTheEdge · 29/03/2020 17:33

Quite a while ago I started writing the word queue and realised I had no clue how to spell it Shock Blush
Predictive text refused to help me out.

I did find the spelling and had to teach myself how to spell it. I still have to say the letters in my head my head as I write it.

I get irritated by all the bad spelling people have mentioned but for some reason the word queue baffled me.
At least I made the effort to learn it though Blush

MysteryFrog · 29/03/2020 17:36

I saw a ‘rest bite’ in the wild for the first time this week, thought it was only a myth

NoSoapAndGory · 29/03/2020 20:46

They haven't, @DishingOutDone - what on earth is Mumsnet coming to?!!!!

OP posts:
EggysMom · 29/03/2020 20:57

Personally I can't bare it.

This is my current annoyance, I've even seen it in on online news services as well as social media.

GenevaMaybe · 29/03/2020 21:00

Here, here

DishingOutDone · 29/03/2020 23:39

@GenevaMaybe, surely you mean hear hear?

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 29/03/2020 23:56

DishingOutDone but surely you would of fixed it? Wink

DishingOutDone · 30/03/2020 00:00

Nah Arthur, I'm passed it.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 30/03/2020 00:01

Poster started a thread, she couldn't drive a Manuel car.
The very first comment was Que?
🤣🤣

Notcontent · 30/03/2020 00:19

Well, I stood in a que, brought lots of shopping and then bought it home... I was sat there having a brew, when my neighbour came over and asked me to borrow her some loo roll... how ignorant.

famousforwrongreason · 30/03/2020 00:20

Proper irks me. They use que for queue and cue.
I’m sure it’s the same people who write ‘me thinks’ and ‘per say’
