To think this is not good enough from B and Q

I am due to have a kitchen delivered in just over a week's time. I'm obviously not going to be able to have it fitted now and I don't want it delivered either.

I think with such a big delivery it will be difficult to maintain social distancing and I don't want that many potentially contaminated parcels in my house. Storing them for probably months would be far from ideal as well. I assume they will cancel/postpone the delivery anyway, but I want confirmation.

All stores are closed (fine) but there is no way of contacting them. No online chat, which surely could be done from home? Phoning them just gets you to a message that says they are dealing with their customers who need them most and then cuts off. Great that they're prioritising, but how do they know who's ringing when they don't even speak to the caller?! Confused I fully understand that they won't have call centres open and that's good, but just a message on the website/recorded message along the lines of customers expecting large deliveries will hear from us in X amount of time or something would be nice.

I'm just worried it'll turn up and I'll have to deal with it, which I really don't want and there seems to be absolutely no way of contacting them.

It's shit isn't it?

It is annoying. Can you reject the delivery ? I don't know what the terms and conditions are

There should be an address or email contact on your paperwork - write to them and ask them to postpone delivery due to you bring in isolation right now .
The contact detail will be in the area that explains your right to cancel - legally they have to give you this - so you must have it somewhere .

If you can’t get through to them, I wouldn’t accept the delivery. When they arrive tell a white lie and say someone inside is a vulnerable person and you aren’t allowing anyone inside.

I would find an email address for them and email them in advance so you can prove you’ve tried to contact them.

Also they really should be contacting you before the delivery to ensure you’ll be in (haha), so you may well be contacted by the delivery company.

@Theduchessstill I have a very close family member that works in the cc for b&q. They are still open forcing their staff to go in or not be paid but just now they have limited staff compared to what they normally have and are contacting customers like yourself about your deliveries and items that are out of stock so they are trying and working them self’s to the bone trying as well as you can imagine thousands of customers are effected. I understand that it’s frustrating I really do but for the people at the other side they are doing all they can.

Theduchessstill · 28/03/2020 09:18

That's awful AreYoubeingserious I certainly wasn't having a dig at staff - anything like this needs someone in a leadership role to make a decision and then communicate it clearly. I thought they'd been responsible by closing their stores - disappointing to see that's not the case.

I've taken the advice above (don't know why I didn't think of it Blush) and emailed so hopefully someone will read it at some point...
