Help me make use of philadelphia, left over old digestives and some not very delicious looking apples.

Doesn't have to all be one dish.

Cook the apples with some sugar and water. Spread Philadelphia on biscuits, spoon on apple mixture - apple pie cheesecakes.

Solasum · 27/03/2020 22:25

Stew the apples, mix with Philadelphia, use to top crushed biscuit base to make an apple cheesecake?

AlexaCrowe · 27/03/2020 22:25

If the digestives are soft, put them in a low-temp oven for a little while until they go hard again.

Saracen · 27/03/2020 22:34

apples + digestives could be the start of a crumble. Or a pie.

Mawbags · 27/03/2020 22:36

Oh yes, bash you digestive and stir in Philadelphia. Chill in fridge while you stew apples,,, sounds v nice actually

OhioOhioOhio · 27/03/2020 22:41

How much philadelphia would you stir in? Thank you.

You have a cheesecake there!

Winterwoollies · 27/03/2020 22:51

CHEESECAKE! I’m inspired to make one now. Yum. Caramelise the apples in some sugar.

LetsBeSensible · 27/03/2020 23:02

I eat digestives with Philadelphia spread on them topped with sliced apple- thought it was a well known snack?

OhioOhioOhio · 27/03/2020 23:24

All the cheesecake recipes have a random ingredient I don't have. Can anyone link me to an easy one please? x

Easy no-bake cheesecake:

Put the digestives in a plastic bag and crunch up into crumbs. Meanwhile chop the apples into small pieces and stew on the hob with a bit of water and sugar. (If sugar is the ingredient you're missing, just go without and you'll have a more tart apple topping for the cheesecake.)

Line the bottom of a container with the digestive crumbs. Add sugar if you want a sweeter base.

Add Philadelphia on top of the crumbs and smooth out with a spoon.

Add the (cooled) stewed apples to the top and smooth out.

Put in the fridge to set a bit. Or just eat it there and then!

AdaColeman · 28/03/2020 00:49

Don’t bother making into an actual cake/flan, just put layers of crushed biscuits, cream cheese and cooked apple into glasses or dishes, deconstructed cheesecake!
You could beat/stir the cheese before use to soften it a little.

Add a bit of sugar, or even hot chocolate powder, to your philadelphia for the pudding option.

OhioOhioOhio · 28/03/2020 09:26

I am delighted with and will use all of your ideas. Thank you so much everyone!

I made a pudding yesterday with a panettone that was still here left over from Christmas (In date still), a can of out of date caramel flavoured carnation milk and four bananas that were going brown...basically just sliced the panettone up and laid it in a dish, poured the milk stuff over (whilst crossing my fingers and telling myself it's in a tin, it will be fine!) and added the sliced bananas. Put more sliced panettone over the top and bunged it in the oven....it was bloody lovely, still got half of it left, and dh said the house smelled like Christmas!! 😂😂😂
Still got half the panettone left, so that's going to be toasted with butter for breakfast!
Wasting absolutely nothing here!!
