Breast lump and NHS

Asking basic advice so I won’t waffle. About a month ago I noticed a lump in my breast. I had bumped into something so put it down to that. Two weeks ago it was bigger. Now it’s sore. With everything going on I don’t want to waste the time of NHS and am not even sure I’d be seen. I am a keyworker (not NHS) and don’t have much time off. Is this a case of leave it and it’s tough luck because of everything going on? Or do I book an appointment and risk someone else’s more serious issue being sidelined?

@VladTheDictator have you made your appointment? I rang drs and waiting for a ring back to see if I need to go in. They said I probably will.

Dr has referred me to the urgent breast clinic to rule out cancer.

I do think we have to get over this 'at this moment we cant put the NHS under pressure'
THIS THIS and THIS again.

Not all consultants and nurses are going to be involved with COVID19 patients. Most of them will be expected to continue with their work, just focusing on urgent referrals.

It's important to get it checked now, because the earlier you do, the better chance of treatment and survival in the worse case scenario, because it will be peace of mind if it's nothing, but also because the NHS is going to be under massive pressure to resume normal business when this is all over. Hospitals were struggling to meet targets before, they will certainly struggle a lot more afterwards, dealing with all people who put off being treated and doctors worn out, off for stress, or taking the holidays they couldn't take during that time.
