In the news ... on the beach, bbqs in the park, coffees in groups etc

Obviously I’m going to continue ... it’s just very frustrating.

Yanbu

On my Instagram there are plenty who want to make an 'experience' of their exercise time. Hmm

icanhearapindrop · 27/03/2020 20:56

YANBU. We are doing it so strictly, because I want us, and others, to be safe, and I want this to be over as soon as possible. It makes me really angry to see people doing it halfheartedly.

Everyone in UK is suddenly an enthusiastic walker or jogger.

Everyone in UK is suddenly an enthusiastic walker or jogger.

No kidding. People are striding around in full gear with walking sticks in the usually deserted area where I walk the dog.

I'm in the vulnerable group, I've quit trying to take him out around the coming and going people, and we're playing in the garden instead.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 27/03/2020 21:08

There will be blood bath when all these now professional runners try to apply for places in Marathons🙈

I don't see what's wrong with sitting on doorsteps, ^madcatlady*, unless their doors open straight onto the street. My opposite neighbours do that as their back gardens face north and it's the only way they can get any sun. They're a good 10-12 metres from the pavement, depending on the layout.
People take the piss in other ways, granted, but I don't think quietly reading at a safe distance is a huge problem.

Chloemol · 27/03/2020 21:29

They say they need 75% of us to follow guidelines to help flatten the peak. I like to think I am one of the 75% taking this seriously and the 25% are those likely to get it so that’s up to them

LolaSmiles · 27/03/2020 21:32

Driving round doing NHS home visits today and it's only day 4 and people are already taking the piss, sitting reading on their doorsteps, chatting to neighbours in the street, sitting on walls. I swear I'm going to get a dashcam and shame the lot of them on social media
If their doors don't open onto the footpath then surely it's up to them? I'm not sure reading outside their house is taking the piss.

Equally if neighbours are keeping the appropriate distance then what's wrong with it? When we brought our bins in one of our neighbours said hi and we had a lovely chat with a drive between us. When we've come back from the shopping we've see another neighbour in their garden mowing the lawn and said hi. Based on your description we're taking the piss and should all ignore each other instead of checking each other are ok and offering to pick up any essentials for a door step drop when we next shop.

There are people taking the piss, but I'm not sure people talking to their neighbours or reading outside their door is it.

Yep really winds me up.... DH is a key worker so has to go out to work, putting himself and us at risk...he's an AA recovery driver. His last two customers today... One was out with his young son going to buy a kitten... The other to sell a car Angry
What is wrong with people?

underneaththeash · 27/03/2020 21:38

Remember the press need to sell newspapers and you cannot believe everything you read. We had our photo taken today in our village - we'd gone out for a walk, so it was me, DH, DS13 and Ds11, our au pair (who is 23) and DD (8). Both DS's are enormous - my 13 yo is over 6'2", so it did look like lots of young people.
I had to run after the photographer and explain about our set up.

underneaththeash · 27/03/2020 21:38

I forgot to say our au pair is SA too.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 27/03/2020 21:39

I don't get it. I really don't. Do people think that international travel, businesses and more close just for fun? Does that not show how dire the situation actually is?

Conrad79 · 27/03/2020 21:44

Someone I know went for a run, sat down for a quick drink (water if relevant - from his sports bottle) & they were shamed publicly for it with a photo. It was his daily exercise & he was alone! Confused followed by hundreds of abusive comments online!

boring news doesn’t make money

people obey government and do their allotted daily exercise ..... doesn’t sound as exciting does it? Not click baity enough.

Tiddlytubbies · 27/03/2020 22:10

My neighbours have just had a 2 hour visit from their daughter who I know for certain works for the NHS. On our daily exercise we seen a few groups of young people who clearly couldn't give a shit and think they are invisible! My 15 month old can't go to nursery or see his grandma which breaks my heart as he loves both. It does feel like why should we bother when no one else seems to be? Obviously we will continue though!

I suspect a lot of households aren’t keeping to the 14 days of self isolation. We’re on day 10 and we’re lucky that we managed to get an online slot and will manage food wise. We might need to get someone to get us milk as we’re running out but I’d have found it harder to have asked someone to do a full on shop for a family if we hadn’t had an online delivery. I’d be amazed if all households are sticking to the quarantine recommendations given the lack of online slots for food. I’m desperate to get out for a walk with the children next week and I’m genuinely excited about going to the supermarket.
