Interference of Goods Act & access to property

During a long protracted argument my family moved out of a social housing property in August last year, after the company sought eviction. We have been denied access since until last week when they implemented Interference of Goods Act which is supposed to allow tenants a reasonable opportunity to recover their belongings. We were given four hours to clear a complete house with a days notice. We've had to leave behind shitloads such as cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, personal belonging. We estimate we've lost approximately £12,000 of stuff.

Any advice welcome, I just needed to rant.

I'm sorry you've lost your goods but in my experience it takes a massive amount to be evicted from Social Housing. Unless you're buying high end goods, it's doubtful they would come anywhere close to 12k. Also, if you had an eviction notice, why did you not pack beforehand?

Why didn't you just take them when you left?

Hate to add to your troubles, but they'll now charge you for the cost of clearing the house and taking everything to the tip. They tend to go after people quite harshly as you are expected to have packed and cleared the place prior to leaving.

I doesnt happen overnight, you are expected to have been packed prior to eviction and be warned you might be charged for the cleaning out of the house.

Are you one of those school caretaker families who seem to be being evicted at great numbers from their homes at the moment?

Not to sound funny but the goods you've listed there are all white goods and you'd have to go a VERY long way for that to amount to £12,000.
Even if you include other furniture like sofas, tables, chairs etc you'd still struggle to make more than £2,000 at very best.

Evictions of any sort do not happen over night. The process is a long, protracted one with plenty of opportunity to appeal or delay.
I don't wish to be rude but it sounds as though there has been a certain amount of burying head in the sand rather than deal with the matter or make preparations to leave with all the goods.

If this really was sprung on you with no proper notice you should seek legal advice. Otherwise I'm not sure you can do much more at this stage.
