Do I have to go to work ?

I am asthmatic, well controlled but I take steroid inhalers morning and evening.

I work in admin and have been doing my job from home the past few days. In fact I have worked harder at home than at work and have been logging in on my days off to answer emails etc as I know this is a difficult time for my department because of the nature of the job.

My work are now saying that I have to produce a letter from my GP to say that my asthma is severe otherwise I will have to go back into the office.

The latest announcement I heard on the radio from the government is to only go into work if necessary and you absolutely cannot work from home.

I'm not sure if my GP will give me a letter as my asthma is well controlled and haven't had an attack for a while.

I can and have been doing my job more than efficiently at home.

Do I really have to go in ???

I dont think your GP would give you a letter. Your work are going against too guidelines. If you are working just as hard what is their reasoning?

Our GP posted an update saying all fit notes to do the with COVID-19 were issued by 111 and they couldn't do it. Not sure if it's the same everywhere?

They have no reasoning. It is the NHS but not frontline. Community.

The director who is making the decision has no valid reason other than we have to keep to business as usual even tho none of the clinicians are seeing patients.

A couple of weeks ago she was going round saying that this is being blown out of proportion. She won't say that out loud now but that's what she thinks.

I am admin and have diverted the phone to my phone at home so can even take calls. There is nothing I can't do here that I do at work.

Email them and say that you are following government instructions and working from home, and that there is nothing you have to go into the office for.

Also meant to add that my son is also asthmatic and my husband has type 2 diabetes which also makes him vulnerable.
