To think I can cut my toddler's hair and not make a complete mess of it?

18 month old is starting to look like the Beatles' missing 5th member. Of course I wouldn't dream of doing this for vanity, but his hair is getting in his eyes and starting to irritate him.

I've never trimmed hair before so wondered whether this was a really dumb idea, or could I make a reasonable job of it with some inexpensive trimmers?

Any tips? Is there a chance that I might hurt him? If yes, I'll improvise a hairband or something!

Go for it!

It's not as if anyone is going to see it for a while and the last thing you want at the moment is an eye infection!

Of course you can. I've been trimming DS' hair for ages, when he lets me! He's 16mo.

It will grow back

Sorry unfinished post; i meant to say, definitely give it a go - it will grow back

If you get clippers, put it on its longest setting (they'll come with various length combs), and it's pretty foolproof to get it all the same length. Much easier than pointy scissors near a wriggly toddlers eyes.

Brilliant! Thanks everyone.

I was just worried about the possibility of hurting him, but definitely sounds safer than scissors.

Might even save me some £ in the long term!
