Just looking for opinions. We have a holiday booked for july to spain, we still have a balance to pay.
Whats the likelyhood of this holiday going ahead? I dont want to keep making payments if the chances are the holiday will get cancelled.
Has anybody already had theyre july holiday cancelled by the company?

Would you not be able to claim on your travel insurance if they cancel it?

Squirrelblanket · 26/03/2020 20:16

The travel industry is trying to get an emergency bill pushed through which means that they don't have to give you your money back, but they can give you a credit note. Here: www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/package-holiday-refund-rules-suspended-abta-coronavirus-a9417261.html#comments

I think it may well be ok by July. I know things look bad now, but it could well be very different in 2 months time. Having said that I wouldn't book anything new, but would keep my fingers crossed!

Squirrel I'd be happy to rebook for following year.

The realism is that this is what they want because then they can hike up the price. They are a business after all.

So my AI holiday including car park which cost me £1100 for 2 of is this summer will be £2000 like for like.

I'd already gone basic Grin yes, you have longer to pay. But again that's income for them each month.

I'd actually quite happily book longer and more expensive holiday and pay more but I am not happy at idea of paying over the odds for an equal holiday.

Ours cost £4600, its alot of money to lose

I'm in Spain. It's highly unlikely things will be anywhere near normal enough for holidaymakers. It's a shame on many counts, but it is what it is.

Sorry OP 🙁

We’re booked for Spain in July too, but I think this’ll be our reality instead

How much is the deposit?

JaceLancs · 26/03/2020 22:08

I’m booked for Tenerife in July but assuming it won’t go ahead and will just get a refund
I’m tempted to re book for December or January 2021

thenightsky · 26/03/2020 22:14

We are booked for first week of July in Madeira. Balance due 6th April. Gonna pay it and hope for the best. Happy to take a credit note and rebook if that's an option.

Mycatwontstopstaring · 26/03/2020 22:21

I think you’re unlikely to go. This still escalating, Russia just cancelled international flights etc etc. Sorry ☹️

Lightline · 26/03/2020 22:22

We had a holiday booked with TUI for August this year and postponed it til next year. We refused to pay a fee for that and they backed down and changed the dates

Starlight456 · 26/03/2020 22:28

I am due to go to Mexico May. I am waiting for it to be cancelled
