I work in a decent size team (20ish) for the NHS so we are all very busy and quite stressed at the minute. None of us can work from home so we are all in at work spread out over different offices. Our roles have changed dramatically since the Covid-19 situation arose and we are all working very hard. Over the past few weeks I've worked overtime and also re-trained other staff to help out as a service need, other team members have had the manager asking if they are ok, checking up on the work load etc yet I've not had any contact from the manager at all so I've been feeling a little isolated and forgotten about. Anyway, today the manager came into the large office where I was printing something off, there were 2 other staff members there, the manager ran into the office, gave one staff member a chocolate bar and said this is just to thank you for your hard work then ran out of the office saying nothing to anyone else which I found a bit strange. I got back to my own office expecting one to have been left on my desk but there was nothing. AIBU to let this upset me? I just think a small gesture goes a long way for staff morale and I know the other staff member has been doing the same amount of work as the rest of us so hasn't really gone out of their way to do any extra work. I understand the manager is very busy, very stressed along with the rest of the team, just not sure why it can be done for one staff member and not the rest of us.
I have been told by another manager that I'm on the critical worker list where I am needed at my role in the office and also its probably because the manager thinks I'm coping with the hundreds of extra calls per day etc. Just don't feel very appreciated especially when appreciation is shown to others and I'm ignored. Thanks
