Well not technically IN my garden, but close enough to see in my living room window! It’s annoying as they moore up all the time now till the end of summer. Some even wave at me when I’m sat on the couch 🙄 his little log burner must be going as puffs of smoke are coming out of the chimney.

I’m jealous of his freedom right now or should he be moored up some where staying put? But definitely not at the bottom of my garden!

Is He BU for chugging around the county side

Or is he NBU? As technically he isn’t walking about anywhere.

ironfloor you made me and DH laugh - great comment

Fieldofgreycorn · 25/03/2020 19:43

How picturesque.

CatBatCat · 25/03/2020 19:44

Who owns the mooring?

TheWordmeister · 25/03/2020 19:49

Do you have riparian rights? We have a similar situation but actually own half the width of the river so could legitimately say 'get orf moi land' Grin

helgahelga · 25/03/2020 19:49

@Justginnoschweppes

If you bought/moved into a house with a mooring site for barges, (and a canal at the bottom of your garden,) then you can hardly complain when a flippin' BARGE pops up near you! Confused

SuckingDieselFella · 25/03/2020 19:50

Write the following on something big and hold it up to him.

OI! BARGE BLOKE! YOU'RE LIVE ON MUMSNET!
AmelieTaylor · 25/03/2020 19:52

Maybe he needs to get somewhere with water etc or food.

It’s quite possible he hasn’t heard that he shouldn’t be moving or that the 14 day max rule has been lifted

I’m sure it’s annoyingly having people look in, but perhaps you need to find a way to obscure their view as it seems to be a permanent issue. At least he seems friendly 🤷🏻‍♀️

Zombiemum1946 · 25/03/2020 19:53

Net curtains ?

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/03/2020 19:55

If you own the mooring space YANBU. But if you don’t then YABU - isn’t it like he’s parked on the road outside your house, he has the right to be there. He may well live on the barge too.

helgahelga · 25/03/2020 20:02

The OP is the same type of person who moves into a house near a Church and then moans about the sound of the Church bells (or the Church clock striking.)

Marieo · 25/03/2020 20:03

Guessing the canal has been there a while.

Devlesko · 25/03/2020 20:10

Looking at that link he's only doing something wrong if he's a leisure boater.
If he lives there he's entitled to move around.

Lordfrontpaw · 25/03/2020 20:17

Great. I’m singing the song now.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 25/03/2020 20:19

there's lots of boaters mooring up in quieter places since the tow paths are bursting at the seams with the exercising Self Isolaters.

I'd be floating about the lowland canals for a week if it wasn't for lockdown.

Justginnoschweppes · 25/03/2020 20:28

Jobseeker19 that’s creased me up Grin and yes I can feel like that sometimes on a Sunday morning when I’m putting my washing out in my robe and some ones just their smiling at me like I’m the holiday rep or something.

I don’t own the mooring. But I didn’t know there was one there either it’s not marked very easy and I’m staggered people actually find it tbh.

But yeah it’s a bit of a peeve sometime, mostly it’s jolly and the kids love waving to the ‘narrow’ boats but sometimes two rock up and have a BBQ against the outside of my fence in the evening and as the blokes tend to huddle around the BBQ being all manly they tend to just stand directly —gorping— looking in to my house.

I don’t want to put bushes up as it’s a lovely view however I think the time has come for window screen.

Buy some blinds.

HelloBolloxMyOldFriend · 25/03/2020 20:58

How long have you lived there @Justginnoschweppes?

HazelBite · 25/03/2020 21:01

I didn't think of worms, only fairies!

maddening · 25/03/2020 21:08

Buy the mooring! That would be awful for me, I would not be able to enjoy my home or garden being so public and random bbqing at the end of my garden while gawping would finish me off

NotTheMrMenAgain · 25/03/2020 21:09

UABVU for calling it a barge when it's very likely a narrowboat! So there's a canal (or river) at the end of your garden, with no private mooring, and you're annoyed there's a BOAT there?

Ooookay.......

StraightTalkingSandra · 25/03/2020 21:10

Clearly you need to eat him OP.
