I noticed this floating around TikTok and I am concerned by this. They are showing service users and putting them in videos. I am a support worker and at my work you would disciplined and possibly sacked.

Am I being a busy body and should I just leave it alone?

Doesn't look like any harm's being done. They seem like nice girls.

JenNtonic · 25/03/2020 11:49

The residents don't look coerced, unaware or pressured. It's quite sweet 🤷‍♀️

PenelopeFlintstone · 25/03/2020 11:50

the name of the place is pretty obvious

cherryblossomgin · 26/03/2020 18:42

I didn't notice the name. I know they look fine and the women in it are probably just trying to keep the service users occupied.

No, they shouldn’t be posting pictures or videos with service users.
However you posting it on here certainly won’t reduce the amount of views it gets. Why on earth would you post it?

BubblyBarbara · 26/03/2020 18:49

Yes get them taken down and ruin the one ray of sunshine they have in this terrible situation. Go you.

It's this one judging by the tik toks. Whilst I think it's nice they're having fun, I agree about not showing service users

My DGM is in a care home and I know she would hate to have her picture posted anywhere on social media. Maybe the service users have consented but if they haven't it's pretty unprofessional of them don't you think

ChristmasFluff · 26/03/2020 19:21

This is absolutely not ok and would get you sacked where I work. Reputable organisations have a strict 'no mobile phones' policy. People who consent for themselves/their relatives to be in promotional material are shown in photos/videos made for specific purposes sanctioned by management. I doubt these are that. But if they are, reporting them to management won't hurt them, will it?

Darbs76 · 26/03/2020 19:25

100% not ok. I’m sure they have a social media policy to protect residents and rightly so.

Surely the activity would be just as fun cor,the residents even if photos of it weren't posted on tiktok?

dentydown · 26/03/2020 19:32

@sparepantsandtoothbrush Chelsea the carer is in one of the photos by the looks of it!

UseByDateExpired · 26/03/2020 19:35

OP:
Is there a middle way?
can you message or reply to the video suggesting that they should not be showing service users?
And for goodness sake get your OP taken down. If it isn’t ethical to show the service users, it isn’t ethical for you to have linked it.

UseByDateExpired · 26/03/2020 19:37

Exactly. So just reply or message the site, if that is possible on TikTok and tell them to take it down, without reporting them and getting them sacked.

Theresnobslikeshowb · 26/03/2020 19:44

There are VERY STRICT RULES around posting anything with service users in. Capacity and consent being just two. How much time are they ‘practicing’ when this time should be for their service users.
