To think we shouldn’t be buying clothes etc just now unless absolutely necessary

One of my favourite shops has a sale. Quite a lot off. I’ve recieved a couple of texts from friends and my husband told me about the sale.

Much as I love a bargain, I feel that if I buy something I’m contributing to putting someone’s life at risk (those working in the warehouse, delivery driver etc). DH thinks I would be helping folk keep a job.

YABU - you should still buy clothes etc and contribute to the economy

YANBU - clothes are not a necessity and these places should be encouraged to close at this time

@NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite online shopping. The high street is closed. I’m getting at so many emails every day offering me discounts off stuff. It’s so tempting, I’ve muted almost every retailer I follow on FB.

Well I'm going to need to order trainers soon, I only have one pair and they're getting a hole in. I wear them as my every day shoes. Jeans also have hole but may try mending them first.
I placed an Amazon order well over a week ago, some of it hasn't come yet but I'm hoping it still will.

Ah, it looks like I’m unreasonable. Never mind.

Still not buying the clothes lol

It's a difficult one because, even though these goods aren't necessary, the economy is going to be fucked enough after all this so you could look upon it as a little way to keep it going.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/03/2020 19:29

It's soooo tough resisting all the pop ups for sales by my favourite shoe companies.
I now have a mantra of "I do not NEED new shoes" "I do not NEED new shoes" ....

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/03/2020 19:31

I was amazed with Amazon the other day, I ordered something for my home office set up at around 10.30pm. It arrived the next day at about 9.30 am.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 25/03/2020 19:33

I wouldn't say you are unreasonable op because there are two sides to this. DP dm works in a factory and she is really worried that without people buying she wont have a job. Shes desperately afraid that , given that she lives in a rural tiny community and it's the only work she can get , if the company goes under she will be screwed.

She said she wished she could be at work because then she can take precautions but she wont survive a job loss.

Ita not ideal we dont want her anywhere near the outside world but I see her point.

We are spending more on food from farm shops, local butchers etc as too frightened to shop in real shops. DH is in a vulnerable group. Clothes etc don't seem appealing right now.
