To let DM take DS a walk

I know, I'm sorry, another Covid-19 one...

I am alone with my non verbal asd 3 year old who is v hard work to entertain. I have underlying health conditions & we observed social distancing for almost 2xweeks and self isolation since Saturday (no symptoms, just staying safe). My DM has self isolated for the past 10 days.
DM lives 1 street away. She is going to go a walk round the block today. I desperately need a half hour break from DS. If I put him in the buggy outside and DM took him a walk (wearing latex gloves so woukdnt be touching the buggy), do you think that would be ok? I'm just exhausted.

Does your DM have 6 foot long arms?

You’re not supposed to be associating with anyone outside your household. Just don’t. I know it’s hard but you’re putting everyone in the situation at risk.

I cannot imagine how exhausting it is for you but the guidance is clear, the whole point is that we are meant to be staying within our own households. Do you live with anyone else who can give you a break?

Really do feel for you though and I’ve noticed some support threads for parents of children with disabilities. I’m sure they can offer some wise words and advice. Flowers

It's just me (I'm waiting for a heart transplant) and DS at the minute, no one else. His dad works away, normally 3 weeks at a time but looks like he will be doing at least a double shift to avoid bringing anything back to us, so he will be gone for at least 6 weeks.

Oh op this must be so hard...

Could your mum move in with you for the next weeks so you are one household?

playthestation · 25/03/2020 11:32

I'm waiting for a heart transplant

Bloody hell. I'm sorry things are heard but absolutely no to your son mixing with anyone

Protect yourself OP

We were considering moving in to my mums on sunday, once me & DS have been totally self isolated for over 7 days, we should have done this from the start but DS was still going to therapy.
It seems like the walk isnt a good idea :(

Wouldn’t the mum moving in cause more health risks than taking the child out say once a week?
