80 minutes exercise today

Bubblebu · 25/03/2020 05:58

What kind of exercise are you getting?

If I went out for my (otherwise usual) 40 min there and 40 min walk back usual rural walk today, (apart from having been told not to mix with people which I would not) will I be arrested?

Have I missed some kind of gmt mandated time restriction on out doors exercise which would make this indefensible? (if confronted I would say the purported reason is a trip to my local supermarket tho ive no reason whether it is open / stocked so that would not be the principle reason).

No stipulated time limit, just the need to follow the distancing rule.

Bubblebu · 25/03/2020 06:04

thank you positive. v helpful.

im very prepared not to go into the supermarket and keep the 6 foot distance from everyone etc

The idea is to minimise your time outside.

In France they originally didnt specify a whole lot but within less than a week of lockdown they've had to specify distance (1km from home for exercise), time (max 1hr) and reiterated that you must be alone and not on a bike or roller skates or skateboard...

We also have to carry ID and a paper declaring why we're going out.

Not arrested but fined 135 euros. Then 1300 if you re offend within 15 days. 3600 euros (I think) if 4 offenses in 30 days and up to 6 months in prison.

They had to harden the rules because some people continued to do as they liked.

Croissant thank you so much for your post.

I do have compromised immunity (recovering from cancer) so maybe I should just try to mow my lawn or something.

What I was wanting to do today in the UK would be more than 1km.

I don't want to be fined or indeed even confronted by anyone (ignoring any health issues of going out; although I do suspect I had the virus itself early Feb 2020 during chemo and am now recovered).

I read 15 minutes on a thread here & thought "where did that come from?' I haven't seen restrictions on exercise time anywhere else. (Confused -and the difference between 2 X 15 minutes and 1 X 30 is??)

Personally I walk to the community centre, about ten minutes, let myself into the garden, clean and feed the chickens then walk home again - often in a less direct route. Roads and park are extremely quiet.

Bubblebu · 25/03/2020 06:23

EveryDay did you do that recently (in the last 2 days etc) I would so like to go out today but not sure whether to risk it. I would not go near anyone obviously but it feels a bit stir crazy not to go out.

That said I do have a plently of gardening and housework I could be doing but … but .. etc

OP posts:
Bubblebu · 25/03/2020 06:24

(especially if this is going to go on for weeks, in which case weeks to do gardening and housework etc)

I'll be doing Joe Wicks with DD, then instructing another class via Zoom. We'll head to our woods after work for a walk. All within 1km, secluded and beautiful.

vampirethriller · 25/03/2020 06:34

I take the dog a walk for about an hour, we don't see a soul. A couple of cars but no other walkers. We go before 7am.

Bubblebu · 25/03/2020 06:37

vampire. maybe the answer to avoid people is indeed to go before 7am (or after 9pm.... etc)

I took my daughter on a walk along the coast path by our house then home again yesterday. Was out for about an hour, didn't see many people but when we did everyone loved out of the way and we all stayed well away from each other and my 3 year old was so good with the social distancing bless her.

MedSchoolRat · 25/03/2020 06:44

A LOT of dog-walkers are out around 9-10pm. That late walking is not normal. When I was driving to work 1 hr each way to fetch equipment so I could WFH, btw.

Equally, lots out around noon... so I guess they would have been out early mornings before, but now stuck at home so can go any time.

hiredandsqueak · 25/03/2020 06:49

I walk the dog for an hour, we are pretty rural so regularly see nobody on my walks anyway and now just ensure I stay away from the more popular spots.

Raver84 · 25/03/2020 06:49

I did a morning work out for 45 mins at home this morning then will take the kids on a massive walk for an hour to the fields or woods.

Dh and I will take turns walking dogs at night. Whoever doesn't take the kids out will exercise the dogs.

nannybeach · 25/03/2020 06:49

Wow, thats some walk. I know a lot of mners, dont t hink we should be going for walks, I had just been diagnosed with ridiculously high BP, and have to excersise more. We have 2 dogs, and live opposite the South Downs, thousands of acres, and have been doing a couple of hours up there. You dont need to come into contact with anyone, Yesterday I did some gardening.I thought I would do the Jo Wicks absolute begginers HIIT,bloody near killed me. I had health problems lat year meaning I couldnt use my hands for moths. Before that I had been doing Harley Pasternaks 5 thing, with cardi,o and weights, thought |I was quite fit (for my age) Have never smoked, dont drink much, never taken drugs. Most of the HIIT stuff I had done so far was about 5 minutes. So off I start, then he says, 4 sets and its 20 minutes. My very sporty DGD of 10 was doing it in her own home with ease. DH has actualy been on his bike once! He has serious mental issues, and am worried about that if we couldnt even get out to walk. It is now on a special stand for indoor use. He is still working considered esential, keeping deliveries going.

VenetoResident · 25/03/2020 06:50

In Italy we have no restrictions on the number of times we can walk, but it's max 200m from your home.

We must carry ID & a self authorisation form. Penalty for abuse is up to €3000.

hannabarbera · 25/03/2020 07:19

You’ll be fine. Just keep away from others!

foamrolling · 25/03/2020 07:26

I'm feeling really paranoid about going out for a walk too. There are so many threads on here and Facebook angry at people being out in any form that I'm scared of getting yelled at! My husband went out for a walk for around an hour with my eldest yesterday without any drama though.

user1471517900 · 25/03/2020 07:37

devildeepbluesea "I'll be doing Joe Wicks"

Lucky you. Though I think that breaks the distancing thing.

At the moment no time limit - I've been out for about half an hour so far this week - run on Monday, walk with DH on Tuesday. Will go out for another run today.

I don't think, however, that MAMILS going for a cycle ride for hours and leaving mum to deal with the kids is at all in the spirit.

TabbyMumz · 25/03/2020 07:53

No time limit at all.

okiedokieme · 25/03/2020 08:14

It's quiet here, I needed to get out so went for an hours run, barely saw anyone and kept my distance. Later I fetched shopping and it was busier there, everyone seems to be shopping on foot compared to normal, though supermarket wasn't crowded - I have to go 2-3 times a week because I cant carry more.

okiedokieme · 25/03/2020 08:14

Ps a proper walk in my book is 5-6 hours! An hour is a mere stroll

dementedpixie · 25/03/2020 08:21

I went walking for 45 minutes yesterday. Saw a handful of people and crossed the road when passing any
