WIBU to grow a beard.

Ok, I've name changed for this, hands up.
I'm peri menopausal, but even before that I was plucking hairs from my chin and neck. Every day I have to pluck, and the one or two hairs from my twenties have now developed into probably a hundred or more. It's a constant battle, I've had a fear and dread of people ever spotting them.
Anyway, now I can't go out for several weeks due to lockdown and I'm wondering wether to just let them grow. I'm weirdly fascinated by how it might look. And since no one else would be able to see, I'm actually quite tempted to just do it.
The only other time these hairs would be allowed grow is if I ended up in a coma or some such and I've sworn my daughter to visit me regularly and be vigilant with the plucking.
So, am I being unreasonable to let my beard grow?
And is anyone else using this time at home doing something equally shameful? Grin

Genuinely thinking about it too. Partly as I’d like to be able to see how bad it gets so that I can take a photo to show the beautician if I was to go for laser hair removal in the future. The thought of somehow ending up in hospital or prison with no access to tweezers puts me off. (Lighthearted - I know no healthcare professional would notice, let alone care).

If I was capable of growing one I 100% would.

JoshArcherStoleMyTractor · 24/03/2020 23:31

If you grow it a bit you could wax and not have to pluck for a while

GrumpyHoonMain · 24/03/2020 23:37

Under chin hair is often too tough to be waxed. I know this from bitter experience. If you are white with dark hair then I would say go for it and when things reopen opt for laser treatment. If you aren’t white then see a dermatologist as laser treatments can sometimes cause pigmentation problems so you want a professional to do it.

I stopped washing my hair last week to see what would happen!! Do it!

SucculentCandle · 24/03/2020 23:39

I do pluck my chin hairs/migrating eyebrows/pig bristles.

I'm not shaving my legs though.

EmeraldShamrock · 24/03/2020 23:42

Why not it'll be an experiment. The money you save on products you can put towards laser treatment if you don't want it anymore.

Merryoldgoat · 24/03/2020 23:49

I’ll join you! The things I pluck
Out of my chin look like eyebrows.

I’m excited! I doubt my husband will be though...

Ever so often I think corrrr I might just leave it and see how long it gets! Then find one of the fine ones on my neck (FFFFFFSSSSS!) and realise it’s two inches long and change my mind.

Once we’re back out into the world: laser. It’s amazing. As above I still have the odd few on my face despite many sessions but it’s got rid of the thick THICK patches and means I no longer constantly have almost acne from attacking them. I also had my legs done and it was the most painful (compared to face, bikini and underarms) and haven’t shaved them for a year.

DioneTheDiabolist · 25/03/2020 01:24

I would OP.

IamNotDarling · 25/03/2020 04:46

I am! Then I’m going to shave it off and use my lumia. I haven’t used it yet on my neck because I didn’t want to keep shaving and getting hair coming through at multiple stages.
