Annoyed at manager?

CorinnaSinner · 24/03/2020 22:45

So I’m on annual leave and my manager sent me an email to say he needs to discuss working from home and to give a time for him to call (finally they have allowed us to wfh!) I responded with an hour window of when I’m free (He requested to speak to me today)

He never called or emailed back.

I think he’ll chase it up tomorrow but aibu to think fuck off and leave me alone I’m on ANNUAL LEAVE? I gave him an hour time slot of my free time which he never even acknowledged.

(Obvs I wouldn’t really tell him to F off)

What are you doing tomorrow that you can’t interrupt? I would also be fascinated to know the answer to this. YABVU

Thatbloodybear · 25/03/2020 05:16

Do yourself a favour and get a new job as soon as is practical. You sound massively annoyed with your work, and looking for any reason to have a pop.
Or perhaps see if they'll release you for a few weeks to go and volunteer for the NHS, might give some perspective to your issue of not receiving a telephone call in a specific hour.

Macaroni46 · 25/03/2020 05:48

You sound very entitled OP. If you were my employee and I was in the position of looking who to make redundant (as likely there will be job losses going forwards) your self-centred attitude would put you right at the top of the list.
Get over yourself and give your boss a break. This is an international crisis and you're upset he didn't call you during a one hour window??!! Grow the fuck up!

Dontjumptoconclusions · 25/03/2020 06:09

OP, you said you're busy all day today... Genuine curiosity... What are you doing today that can't possibly be interrupted?

NewYearNewJob123 · 25/03/2020 06:25

Sadly, with 15 minutes notice of your terribly busy scedule he may have had more important things to do. Or he just couldn't face your attitude and moaning at the end a stressful day and plans to talk to you tomorrow.

devildeepbluesea · 25/03/2020 06:32

Save me please, from the professionally offended. Jesus.

rwalker · 25/03/2020 06:54

Probably psyching himself up to ring you.
I find when dealing with nightmare members of the team always leave them to last. I know how self-centred difficult and shit to deal with it will be as it's all about them.

Apolloanddaphne · 25/03/2020 06:55

@coronasinner
Oh god I think you are talking about my DH! He works for a global fiancé company and was off on holiday last week. This week he has fought to get as many remaining staff working at home even though the CEO of the company was reluctant to allow this. He is working form home for the foreseeable. Yesterday he went into his home study at 7am and didn't emerge again until 6pm apart from 10 minutes to grab lunch. He was bombarded constantly with phone cals the entire day. If he is your boss then I can tell you he is working flat out to keep the company working safely at home.

Apolloanddaphne · 25/03/2020 06:56

Sorry got your name wrong @CorinnaSinner

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/03/2020 06:58

Stop acting like a spoilt child OP. You are clearly having a tantrum because you don’t like your boss. These are not normal times.

Insideimsprinting · 25/03/2020 07:08

Many businesses are panicking like hell about keeping staff safe from virus, adhering to restrictions, worrying if they will survive the economic crisis or will they have to lay off staff. This is on top of the individual challenges they face as well.
Don't worry though, you just put your feet up and enjoy your leave and yeah stick your fingers up at him for not ringing when he said. I mean how dare he waste your precious time.
Just for note, by business is essential but small 3 staff who can't work from home I have same personal worries as everyone else to but running by business has just gone from challenging to utterly mind blowingly stressful at the moment I've not had a day goes by where I haven't been in tears, wish I Could trade places with you.

Sn0tnose · 25/03/2020 07:14

I think you need to grow up a bit and recognise how lucky you are to be in the position you’re in.

I also think you, and others with a similar ‘me, me, me’ attitude have got an awful shock coming your way over the next few months.

CallmeAngelina · 25/03/2020 08:17

Thanks for providing some amusement this morning I gotta, OP

Am also wondering what it is that means you're busy all day today, during lockdown.

OscarWildesCat · 25/03/2020 08:22

YABU, thisbis not a normal situation and I imagine your manager has been extremely busy and stressed. My manger text me at midnight last night updating me on whether I needed to go in, he'd been trying to sort staff out since 6am. Seriously, stop being so precious about your time and cut them some slack, if this is all you have to worry about, you are doing ok OP.

Barbies97 · 25/03/2020 08:29

Come on, your manager is run off his feet no doubt.

I suggest once this is all over, you leave and get a new job.

Totalfangoolie · 25/03/2020 08:31

You actually might not have a job to go back to after this.

I think most employers are shitting themselves right now and trying to make sure their business doesn’t go under making you unemployed

Pukkatea · 25/03/2020 08:32

I started a new job last week and I haven't even met my new manager because they are so busy sorting working from home. They had to buy in equipment for everyone who needed it when the electronics suppliers were either low in stock or closing completely. They had to deal with unprecedented levels of health and safety/occupational health adjustments for people who had never worked from home before. The IT companies who set up remote working have dozens of clients and are impossible to get through to. The situation has changed on a daily basis and that needs to be assessed, decisions made and then communicated to all employees and the cycle of IT hell, health and safety and constant comms and meetings begins again. Being a manager at a time like this is pretty busy you know.

Totalfangoolie · 25/03/2020 08:35

And as an employer we are definitely looking at which employers are looking to keep involved to keep us all going and those who are using this as free holiday and switching off.

You really won’t be aware of what’s happening behind the scenes

ScissorsBike · 25/03/2020 08:36

YABVVVU

c0ffeeandcake · 25/03/2020 09:25

You sound like a terrible employee. Yabu

Lauraa7 · 25/03/2020 10:25

If you’re that unhappy why don’t you just resign. It sounds like it would be for the best for everyone involved

Onetonone · 25/03/2020 11:12

As a manager, things are moving so fast. My 2 hours of meetings today went up to 6 hours of meetings in under 10min, to manage the COVID response. You need to be more flexible.
I took a few hours to respond to a staff member today. I tried to apologise but their response "there is no need to explain"

Macaroni46 · 25/03/2020 20:46

Not coming back OP?
