To not know what to do about night nappies

Dishwashersaurous · 24/03/2020 22:22

Tall six year old is not dry at night, tried many times but he’s just not there yet.

So he uses huggies dry nites and they work brilliantly. I order some every month or so in my online shop.

However, like everyone else I cannot get an online shop and even if I could no where has anything in stock. None in boots, Superdrug, Amazon etc

Aibu to just want to buy nite nappies, and to ask for alternatives

Given what is going on at the moment I don’t really want to be changing sheets in the night which is what will happen if he doesn’t have one

I haven't looked but could there be such a thing as reusable pants ? If you can get reusable period pads and reusable period pants I would think there maybe the equivalent for night time incontinence. You could possibly adapt a product for girls to work for dc ? Flowers

Just use pull ups. My 5 yr old is the same and we use the ones from Aldi.

Try incontinence mats, had them in hospital when I was pregnant and gave me some to take home. Ok so you might need to change his Pjs but hopefully not the whole bed. Just the mat

I have an older disabled child who isn't quite out of nappies during the day we use dry nites 8-15 when his NHS supply run out and I am struggling to find them ,fortunately just had a delivery a couple of weeks ago ,have you tried the dry nites bed sheets ?

x2boys · 24/03/2020 22:31

Or puppy pads which are basically just incontinence pads

Zombiemum1946 · 24/03/2020 22:32

I've had a very quick Google and there's a web site called fledglings that does products tailored to your sons needs. I wish it had been around when I was a kid his age and older.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 24/03/2020 22:38

If you really can't get any then you could lift him for a wee before you go to bed. We did this with DS, he was a little older, more like 8, but we figured out he always wet the bed by about 11.30, so we used to take him for a wee before that.

greeneyedlulu · 24/03/2020 22:38

I have 2 of these and put them on top of the sheets so just need to whip one off when my son has had an accident.

Thing he’s so tall that size 6 pull up don’t go over his thighs

Will look at fledglings

How much does he weigh OP? My 4 year old (16kg approx) is in pampers size 6 nappy pants at bedtime. Size 6 goes up to 18kg and size 7 after that. I’ve seen quite a few packs of size 6 and 7 in the shops recently.

Dishwashersaurous · 24/03/2020 22:40

And unfortunately he sleeps on his stomach and is a wriggler so the whole bed ends up soaked!

Even with bed pads

Dishwashersaurous - my boys are dry now, thankfully. I have some 8-15 Drynites that I want to gift to someone, but don't want to offer them (publicly) locally in case the kids get teased. They would probably be too big for your DS, but if someone else has the smaller size that they don't need, perhaps we could do a three-way thing.

Hippee · 24/03/2020 22:46

Also, the thing that finally worked for us was the Dr Sagie bed alarm. It's really expensive, but worked for both mine (DS1 took a couple of months, DS2 was dry in a week). I have lent it to a friend, so can't offer that.

MitebiteonFrightNite · 24/03/2020 22:48

We are DISO 8-15, cannot get them anywhere. DS is 11, but has a tiny bladder and has never been dry at night. He finally had an appt with the specialist paediatrician today which was obviously cancelled so goodness knows when we'll get to see her next. We've tried desmomelts but they just don't work for him, even the higher dose. I feel sad as he's never had a sleepover or had friends to stay.

I heard the shortage is because the factories that usually manufacture nappies etc have been diverted to making masks as they're comprised of the same materials. Not sure how true it is, but it makes sense.

Dishwashersaurous · 24/03/2020 22:49

Hippie- thank you that’s really kind.
He’s just so worried about the current situation and is doing really well with no school and the uncertainty that I don’t want to push something else.

MitebiteonFrightNite if you PM me you address I will send you what I have.

Dishwashersaurous - I really hope someone comes on and has the right size to offer.

Good luck both of you! Having had weeks where I washed up to 21 sheets and duvets, I feel your pain.

MitebiteonFrightNite · 24/03/2020 23:04

Hippee that's so kind, thank you. Will pm in the morning.

Dishwasher I'm on strict house arrest but I'll get DH to keep an eye out for the smaller size when he goes shopping. It seems to be the biggest size that runs out first usually.

Hippee · 25/03/2020 00:18

MitebiteonFrightNite - great. My husband has to go to the Post Office tomorrow, so it will be convenient to get your parcel in the post too.
