Neighbours having a party?!

Aibuthrowaway · 23/03/2020 23:19

My noisy nuisance next door (terrace) single mum with 3 kids is having another party tonight, aibu to call the police? We've been round about half a dozen times the past month

OP posts:
drinkygin · 23/03/2020 23:22

YABU to mention the fact that she’s a single mum with three kids. Has literally fuck all to do with the situation at hand and is very judgemental of you.

hotstepper4 · 23/03/2020 23:22

Definitely call!! Ugh. What a horrible selfish cow.

bubblesforlife · 23/03/2020 23:23

Yes, call! Give her a rude awakening

Splitsunrise · 23/03/2020 23:24

I would given lockdown from midnight!

WorraLiberty · 23/03/2020 23:24

If she was married with 3 kids or less, would that make the party less noisy?

Or if she was childless?

drinkygin · 23/03/2020 23:25

Exactly @Worraliberty 👏

blue25 · 23/03/2020 23:26

You’re in for a fun few weeks. I don’t know how people with noisy, inconsiderate neighbours are going to stay sane!

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 23/03/2020 23:27

How many are there?

whiplashy · 23/03/2020 23:28

why is it relevant that she’s a single mum OP?

Aibuthrowaway · 23/03/2020 23:32

Its relevant because right now there's no need to have any adults except her in the house, let alone half a dozen adults. Maybe I could have phrased myself better, the music has been banging for 6-10 hours a day for about 3 months and I'm fed up

OP posts:
bubblesforlife · 23/03/2020 23:35

She sounds like a pretty irresponsible mum.

WorraLiberty · 23/03/2020 23:35

Nope, the fact she is a single parent to 3 kids is still totally irrelevant.

And how do you know there's no need for 6 adults to be there?

If the music has been banging for 6-10 hours a day for about 3 months, then YANBU to be fed up.

But from midnight, the UK is going into lockdown so hopefully things will change, although that won't necessarily make her turn the volume down.

LouiseTrees · 23/03/2020 23:37

@Aibuthrowaway you should have reported it long before now. If you are in Scotland the fines aren’t enforceable yet but she should get done for the noise hopefully

drinkygin · 23/03/2020 23:45

Well even if she was married there’s no reason for half a dozen adults in her house- still irrelevant, you’re still judgemental and need to get over yourself. HTH.

maddening · 23/03/2020 23:50

There is no need to be several adults there due to social distancing.

If she had a partner it could be suggested it was just the 2 adults getting pissed in their own home, but as she is the only adult and it is clear that there are others there then she is flouting the social distancing requirements - considering a person a few days ago asked about popping to a friends for a coffee and was shouted down as hugely irresponsible then this person is obviously taking the biscuit (licking it and putting it back in the tin)

Fantasiaa · 23/03/2020 23:52

Tbh you sound rather judgmental. She’s wrong for having a party but the fact that you included her being a single mum with ( oh gosh ) three kids suggests that you wanted us to stereotype her/cast her in a certain light.

WorraLiberty · 23/03/2020 23:59

If she had a partner it could be suggested it was just the 2 adults getting pissed in their own home, but as she is the only adult and it is clear that there are others there then she is flouting the social distancing requirements

The OP isn't 'suggesting' how many adults are in the neighbour's house.

She's been quite clear that there are six of them. Therefore the homeowner's marital status and the amount of children she has, is completely irrelevant.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/03/2020 00:00

If she was married to CEO.
Grew her own veg.
Fed her kids organic food.
Had 2 kids named Henrietta and Charles would it be less of problem to you.

PaulAnkaDog · 24/03/2020 00:06

Worra it’s irrelevant that she’s a single mum? The op worded it poorly but why fixate on that? Poor kids in my opinion tbh.

avamiah · 24/03/2020 00:07

It doesn’t matter if she is a single mum living in a council flat or a single mum living in Mayfair, the whole country is on Lock down .
Yes call the police .
In London we can only go out once a day for exercise.

PaulAnkaDog · 24/03/2020 00:09

In fact, you seem to just want to be contrary for the sake of it Worra Hmm

PaulAnkaDog · 24/03/2020 00:12

I’m fact you all do! An entire board dedicated to corona destroying our country but heaven forbid someone isn’t politically correct enough for mumsnet when they (rightly) point out their neighbour is being a knobber!

PippaPegg · 24/03/2020 00:23

raises hand

I judge a single mother who has noisy parties in the home of her 3 kids.

Assuming the kids are under 12 and there's no massive drip feed coming

expat101 · 24/03/2020 00:53

I understand your pain. We have just had another family with a drum kit move in, building a basic farm kit shed to accommodate band practice. No soundproofing at all.

Our district rules state any undue noise at any hour should be reported and this time we have no intention of trying to tolerate or ''work in'' with the new family as we have done previously with the other lot (15 years later, its no better).

But if you start the ball rolling, you have to keep it going. You won't win any friends or favours by ignoring it, and you certainly won't win any F & F's by complaining only once...

But yes you are entitled to quiet enjoyment of your own property, and when the noise level gets to the point of doing your head in, then for your own mental health sake, you need to take action.

good luck.

StoneofDestiny · 24/03/2020 00:59

I'd rather live next to a judgemental neighbour than one that noisily and relentlessly disturbed the peace in my home!

Complain away.
