How is your employer helping you WFH?

I'm sick of it already, our dining room table is no longer available to eat from, it's a work space. Bedroom corner has laptop kit perma parked. Internet is being hogged by work so can't use it for e.g. watching Netflix because it's too slow to do anything on. Etc etc

I've no idea how people are coping if they don't have a dining room or spare bedroom etc or if they don't have a home internet connection (which, obviously, is now being exclusively used for work but is being paid for out of taxed (net) income!!).

How are your employers set up, is this lack of ... Boundaries... The new norm for us?

You can claim £4 a week on your next year tax return for wfh- that should cover the broadband.

My DH has been at home for 5 weeks now as his company are based in Italy. He has been on kitchen table and I have a wfh study.

Just redone the rooms today to create a second office/sitting room in the dining room and cleared out my office for him to use as he is on 5 hours a day of calls.

DH isn't being allowed to work from home, he's still in the office over 40 hours a week. It sucks to feel cramped and have slow internet, but it could be worse. Count your blessings your employers are being decent enough to care about your safety.

I looked into the tax relief (www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home), not that it would cover paying for the internet... But any help would help... but it says it wouldn't cover broadband because it's a personal and work cost unfortunately

Ours have said we can expense any additional data/broadband speed that is required..have to ask before and let them know what is required but otherwise fine. Can expense a monitor and keyboard as well so don't have to work on a laptop screen.
Have your company ruled this our?

We have no ability to 8ncrease our broadband (17mb is fastest on our line but we get 5-8 tops). Fortunately we have unlimited downloads for data but that still doesn't solve the internet speed problems with work taking up our domestic allowance
