Nursery asking for full fees

Mummybinky · 23/03/2020 12:23

My nursery is trying to charge full fees after closure despite us not being there. I am being told I have to pay full amount for consumables on top of my funded hours that they will be paid for by government. She’s not there to consume?! And my food bill has gone up at home having her home.
Should I still pay? Can they do this?

Look at the contract. What does it say happens if you don’t pay?

I would also expect no bill for stuff such as lunches/snacks etc.

Ours had closed. We pay in arrears so have to pay for March. There will be no credit for this last week.

We will pay for April when it reopens but they will credit us for the missed time.

It sucks.

They shut their website? I’d not be feeling too generous if they start pulling up the draw bridge like that.

Closing there website rounds like they are hiding the part that tells your not liable for food after a reasonable time

Personally I would expect to pay for maybe a weeks worth of food but not after this time as we knew it was coming

we have asked our parents to pay the absolute bear minimum while we are shut - over 3's will pay nothing as we still get the funded hours paid while closed! we just need the rent & bills covered so it will really be a token amount / to keep their place! if we can get any further financial gov help though we will pass the savings on to the parents as well

it is a request and most parents have wanted to pay something to support us / ensure that we will re-open!

There are some that have gotten in touch to say they are struggling / have lost their job / self employed and have no money coming in for a bit - and that is totally understandable that they won't be paying anything!

The gov stepping in to pay the staff has really taken the pressure off though!! We would be screwed otherwise

Technically e could ask for 100% fees to be paid - it is in the t's & c's - but we would likely have people leave / just not pay / damage our relationship with our values parents - not to mention it would be horribly unfair?
