I know a lot of people are under an awful lot of stress in their jobs at the moment, especially the amazing key workers we are all relying on so much, however, working in the travel industry has become more and more challenging over the years and now more then ever, we could do with a bit of understanding! We are getting people writing to us to say we are disgusting and they are appalled with us, they hope we go bust etc, because people don't want to follow the governtment guidelines. We are still human and understand people save hard for their holidays, just like we do. I swear people just think they are talking to machines that want to make their lifes difficult, so on behalf of everyone in the travel industry, please have a little more patience and understanding. Follow the advice and guidelines and this will all work out ok :)

I work for in travel too and have never been more stressed in my life. I've worked through the ash cloud, tsunamis, 911, various operators going bust to name just a few but this really is horrendous. Staff are working ridiculously long hours every day trying to repatriate people and deal with all bookings going imminently. We are all working in different departments helping out and a lot of the time really not knowing what hat we will be wearing and what we are doing yet still sympathising as we really do understand how frustrating it is. At the moment many of us are working so many extra hours a day unable to homeschool our children like other parents and face the uncertainty of whether in a few weeks we will even have a job. We have already been asked to cut down our hours significantly as of next week. People demanding refunds means that so many companies just won't be able to operate anymore. Sorry for rant, I actually feel awful and think I have the virus (working from home and self isolating) so feeling doubly sorry for myself. But I do work in an industry with the most amazing people so hopefully we will ride this storm and we can all enjoy holidays for ever more!!

I'm with you @weediva! Youve been in the industry for probably about the same amount of time as me then having gone through all that! I was in my first tour op job in london when 9/11 happened. It's so sad how our industry keeps taking these beatings, but we will get through it! I just keep thinking that people will want to go on holiday again when this is all over, I just hope we can survive in the meantime. As you say, it's also an industry of amazing people and one I can never imagine leaving, although dealing with complaints does make me strongly consider it sometimes!

@Pinklady1982 yes we probably have. I was working at STN airport during 911, that was quite scary. Hopefully we will all bounce back better than ever once it's over. Keep smiling Smile
