Hi,
Are you in the same roles as before this outbreak happened? Or self distancing at home?

@Alrightnowloseitaghaghaghaa sorry only just saw your response. Well they are still saying there is no proven risk that is any higher to a pregnant woman than anyone else. But any infection in a pregnant woman can cause premature birth etc so that’s why they are being cautious. It’s more about reducing the risk. And because it’s such a new virus they haven’t got enough case studies to say it’s fine to be exposed or not. The newest guidelines is protecting those in their third trimester more then those in the earlier stages.
I suppose it depends on where you work as to what your risk is. I’m on a paeds ward and every kid that walks in has a cough and temp so would be impossible to avoid it, and that’s without the parents, other staff, medical teams etc etc. I just decided that even if the risk is tiny it’s not worth it x

My trust have said from 28weeks we have to work from home, I'm non clinical with no patient contact, but still can't remain on site

Popc0rn · 26/03/2020 13:41

My trust says under 28 weeks carry on as normal, unless you have a heart condition.

Over 28 weeks, avoid working in an area with suspected or confirmed coronavirus patients.

I think it's disgusting.

gmailconfusion2 · 26/03/2020 15:25

@Popc0rn it's strange how it varies so much

Emmacb82 · 26/03/2020 15:51

Even after the guidelines were updated about the third trimester thing, my work are still saying I can go in and work on the frontline. There’s no way of knowing if a patient has it or not. So off sick now until mat leave which is a real shame as my sick record was clear x

Midlands trust told pregnant staff to stay at home for the 12 weeks. We are frontline staff

Pocketfullofsunshine8995 · 26/03/2020 19:26

Mine was updated and told us to stay off for the 12 weeks.

Update! A few weeks ago the maternity dept said all their pregnant staff are to go home and self isolate. Alas I'm not part of that dept so had to stay at work with the possibility of patient contact. Then occie health finally advised all depts to give the pregnant staff member the choice of patient contact duties or non-patient contact duties and that her decision must be respected and supported. So I'm on admin duties and observing the social distancing rules. Phew!
