In thinking my neighbours are unbelievably selfish

I live in a terrace house. Smallish garden. Obviously neighbours very close proximity. In this nightmare times my one positive thought is that I will be able to enjoy being in my garden
Next door moved in a couple of months ago. Mum dad and two teenage sons. They are LOUD. shouting swearing etc. Out walls are paper thin. My family are not particularly quiet sometimes so it's just something we have to accept.
The sons are boxers. Their boxing club is shut. This morning they are putting up a full size boxing ring in the garden. They are several blokes round, all saying how fucking great it's going to be and that they will be having all the kids round to do sparing.
I could cry. They should not be doing this. The noise will be horrendous but the main issue is they should not be having people visiting. Do you think there Will there be some way of reporting people like this?

Our local police had a post on their Facebook page where they had come across a group of teenagers who had congregated due to being off school. They did disperse themselves after officers explained why they needed to self distance. I understand they they were polite and there wasn't any aggro on anybody's part. Other countries seem to be taking it much more seriously like Austria who are having people fined.

I have just sent my kids out of my garden to play at the front of the house (no body else around there) as my neighbours were trying to have a peaceful cup of coffee in the sunshine ☀️ Which they couldn’t do whilst my kids were playing something that involved tigers and monkeys screaming a lot - think we will all have to be considerate of each other even in our own homes and gardens for a while - YANBU

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/03/2020 15:03

I was socially responsible and didn't panic buy. Now I'm wondering if I was stupid and I'm worried that we won't be able to get anything when I run out. Seems it doesn't pay to be community spirited.

Same here MumW

Lipz · 22/03/2020 15:04

Aww I really feel for you. I'm liking the bird seed, should be easy enough to fling out the window when no one's looking.

I've arsehole neighbor's too. All day yesterday they cut grass, power washed whole of back garden, had a bbq and invited everyone they knew over, then had to listen to polish music full blast for about 9/10 hours. Today they power washed whole of front garden, spraying all their filthy crap onto my windows, then they stood and watched as the kids went up and down the road on the bikes. She minds kids week days and now has about 20 per day, all just like abandoned animals running wild. They are utter scum bags.

People like these won't get anything. If I'd enough shite I'd fling it into their garden.

Daffodil55 · 22/03/2020 15:07

I have evil thoughts sometimes when confronted with total idiots and selfish or obnoxious people but I don't act on them as I fear retaliation and having my life made a misery.

The thoughts I have on the boxing ring and bird seed idea, ah, I would use bleach or superglue. Or turn a hose on them which contains water full of dye which will not wash off.

Just my thoughts.

Cinammoncake · 22/03/2020 15:11

They sound like idiots. Play some CBeebies type or Disney music while the boxing is on (and then hide Grin)

ThunderPython · 22/03/2020 15:12

Could be worse OP.

My neighbour is a single mum to 5 boys aged 1 to 17. So she's got her work cut out.

They've got a punch bag in the open plan living /dining area.

Our walls aren't paper-thin. We usually can't hear them.

However.

A dull Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, all day long. I swear I'm going to go insane.

I can't complain. They're not intentionally being annoying. It's just the 4 older boys are obviously using it one after the other. All. Day. Long.

Send me all the alcohol please.

They

They have

ThunderPython · 22/03/2020 15:19

Random words at end of my message... See I'm being driven mad (or madder than usual)

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/03/2020 15:28

We have a small grassed area outside our house. Kids have been out playing together. Not mine, DH has a fever and I have a cough with a raised temp.
This morning we discovered my car's window is broken. Can't do anything about as we can't go out!
Selfish gits. Add bits of bread to the birdseed as that will attract pigeons and they make a lot of mess!

apricotdreams · 22/03/2020 15:28

Thanks and Wine to everyone with moronic neighbours. I am going to look into getting some noise cancelling earphones. The Disney music idea is genius. I have a wiggles cd that would also work. I was thinking maybe some classical music that they would hate but my DH said they would think they were in raging bull!!

She minds kids week days and now has about 20 per day

I'd report her to the council. There are strict limits on how many children childminder can take care of.

QuestionableMouse · 22/03/2020 15:43

Probably related to the selfish idiots who are playing on the green outside of my house while blasting the most shit music I've ever heard.

Sostenueto · 22/03/2020 15:55

Next week when all laws are passed giving the Government the powers they need if your neighbour continues to basically run a boxing club in their back garden you can get on the phone to police and report them! It's a pity you cannot do it yet but once the Government announce a lock down which will be after those laws are passed in about a week they will then be breaking the law. But until then keep indoors! Flowers
I knew society was in a bad way but after what I have seen in supermarkets and outside I think society is even in a worse state than I thought. Selfish me me society where people think they can do wtf they like, stockpiling, even snatching chickens out of old ladies hands it is really really awful.

HateThisHouse · 22/03/2020 15:57

Well, hopefully they'll all die.

Gingerkittykat · 22/03/2020 16:03

The seagulls will be starving right now since people are not dropping takeaways and other food in the street.

I'm sure you can find something they would like to eat.

whiteroseredrose · 22/03/2020 16:21

My late DGM had some bags of manure delivered when her new neighbours kept stepping over the fence and borrowing her garden chairs when they had barbecues. It worked very well.

mumwon · 22/03/2020 16:24

hmm aren't they running a gym? if they do this isn't that illegal? ring up & ask? good old health & safety

goose1964 · 22/03/2020 16:31

Baby shark them on a loop, not forgetting to put cotton wool in your ears first.

GatoradeMeBitch · 22/03/2020 16:46

There's every chance they'll have gone quiet in a month...

TheLadyAnneNeville · 22/03/2020 16:51

@Gatorademebitch... I thought that but from a not very nice “if they don’t abide by the advice, they’ll be dead”.

LakieLady · 22/03/2020 16:51

Next time they have a lot of people round, ring the police and tell them there's an unlicensed prize fight going on next door.

CarolinaPink · 22/03/2020 17:00

I don't get the birdseed thing...? Confused

MumW · 22/03/2020 19:48

Play some CBeebies type or Disney music while the boxing is on (and then hide grin)
Opera at high volume should see them off.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/03/2020 20:11

If the OP sprinkles seed on the ring canvas, it will be covered with bird shit by the time the go to use it tomorrow Carolina.

Corna · 22/03/2020 20:13

But don't you have that Rachmaninov cd that you need to play for your deaf aunt thats quarantined with you currently?
